You could lead Trump's base off a cliff by jangling your keys in front of them. Come to think of it, that's apparently what White House staffers had to do to Trump during national security meetings...
“He was the most prodigious personification of all human inferiorities. He was an utterly incapable, unadapted, irresponsible, psychopathic personality, full of empty, infantile fantasies, but cursed with the keen intuition of a rat or a guttersnipe. He represented the shadow, the inferior part of everybody’s personality, in an overwhelming degree, and this was another reason why they fell for him.”

Anti-Trump Republicans to back vulnerable Democratic lawmakers in 2022 congressional races
LOS ANGELES, Oct 14 (Reuters) - A group of anti-Trump Republicans on Thursday will endorse a slate of Democratic lawmakers facing tough races in next year's midterm elections, in a bid to stop the Republican Party from retaking control of Congress.

The officials, dismayed that most elected Republicans now embrace former President Donald Trump's false claims that the 2020 election was stolen, told Reuters they are also backing vulnerable Republicans, including Representative Liz Cheney, who have rejected Trump's voter fraud allegations.

The Renew America Movement (RAM), formed by centrist Republicans after a mob of Trump supporters stormed Congress on Jan. 6 to try to stop lawmakers from certifying Democratic President Joe Biden's election victory, concedes that Trump and his conspiracy theories now have an iron grip on the party.

According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll from August, 30% of U.S. adults agreed that the "2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump." That included 61% of Republicans, 19% of independents and 10% of Democrats.

Trump, for his part, has endorsed several candidates mounting primary challenges to Republican lawmakers who voted to impeach him on a charge of inciting insurrection in a fiery speech ahead of the deadly Jan. 6 assault on the Capitol. read more

He has also backed a challenger to Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, one of seven in her party who voted to convict Trump on the charge. He was ultimately acquitted by the Senate.

RAM, whose leadership includes former Republican Governors Christine Todd Whitman of New Jersey and Bill Weld of Massachusetts, said supporting moderate candidates is vital to safeguarding American democracy.

"With the mounting threats to our democracy and Constitution, we need people who work proactively to lead their party and the country away from the political extremes," Joel Searby, the group's national political director, told Reuters.

RAM will endorse and in many cases campaign for 11 moderate Democrats, nine moderate Republicans and one independent running for the House of Representatives and Senate in the November 2022 elections, the officials said.

Democrats have a narrow majority in the House, while the Senate is tied 50-50. Party insiders are increasingly nervous about losing both chambers next year, which would derail Biden's agenda.

The lawmakers to be backed by RAM include Representative Abigail Spanberger of Virginia and Elissa Slotkin of Michigan, and Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona, all Democrats locked in close contests.

The group is also supporting Republican House members such as Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger from Illinois, who are among a handful of elected Republicans to denounce Trump and his baseless voter fraud claims. Trump's allegations were rejected by dozens of courts, state election officials and members of his own administration.

Dems cannot lose both houses next year because they only have one. Manchin and Sinema are republicans for all practical purposes. Dems would have been better served if these two had lost. At least then the Senate would officially stand at 48-52 in favor of the GoP and no one would be asking why the Dems can't get anything done when they have both houses. Also as a bonus, turds like Manchin and Sinema would not have the wholly undeserved amounts of importance and influence they do now.

There is technically a tie, true. However the Democrats do indeed have the Senate.

The Senate Majority Leader is Chuck Schumer, rather than Moscow Mitch "Snappy Turtle" McConnell, and it's the Majority Leader that wields an outsized amount of power.

On the other hand, it would be nice if turds like Manchin and Sinema did not have the wholly undeserved amounts of importance and influence they do now.

I get that Manchin is a conservative democrat, but why is in your minds Sinema a turd?

Can't speak for the rest of everyone, but in my view, Manchin and Sinema have been preaching budgetary restraint while simultaneously lobbying for more money going towards their respective pet projects. While this is far from unique behavior amongst our esteemed congresspeople, it is very tiresome to see two elected figures representing a combined 9-10 million people having such a disproportionate level of influence over the national budget.

I'd love for Manchin or Sinema to switch parties. It would cripple Creepy Joe's ability to put anti-constitutional judges on the bench and doom the commie in all but name Build Back Better socialist agenda.

‘Black Hawk Down’ pilot Durant enters Alabama Senate race
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Mike Durant, best known as the helicopter pilot shot down and held prisoner in the 1993 “Black Hawk Down” incident, is joining the U.S. Senate race in Alabama.

Durant, now the founder and president of an aerospace company in Huntsville, announced his campaign Tuesday. He joins a crowded GOP field vying for the Republican nomination to the seat being vacated by retiring U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby.

“Between ridiculous vaccine mandates, trillions in spending, and constant assaults on innocent life and the 2nd Amendment, it’s clear that we need to mobilize people from outside of politics to step forward and serve,” Durant said.

Like other Republicans in the race, Durant expressed his admiration for former President Donald Trump.

“President Trump showed us what’s possible when outsiders step forward and take on the insiders and the politicians. I’ve spent my life either in service to my nation or focused on growing a successful business in Alabama. I’m not going to sit idly by while Joe Biden and the career politicians wreck the country I love. I’m signing up for one more tour of duty. I’m running for U.S. Senate,” Durant said.

Durant was piloting one of two Black Hawk helicopters shot down by Somali militiamen in 1993 in the capital of Mogadishu. Television news reports at the time showed dead Americans dragged through the streets of the capital. Other video showed Durant’s bruised face as he was held by captors.

The subsequent rescue attempt was chronicled in the book “Black Hawk Down: A Story of Modern War” and the 2001 movie “Black Hawk Down.” Durant, who was released after 11 days of captivity, announced his candidacy with a video titled “God Made a Soldier.”

Shelby, 87, announced this year that he wouldn’t seek reelection to the seat he has held since 1987, igniting a messy GOP primary for the Republican nomination.

U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks, former Business Council of Alabama president Katie Boyd Britt, Trump’s ambassador to Slovenia, Lynda Blanchard, and business owner Jessica Taylor are also seeking the GOP nomination.

Trump has endorsed Brooks in the race. Shelby supports Britt, his former chief of staff.

                  The primary is May 24.

FWIW...our lead system integrator at Redstone Arsenal for our system used Pinnacle Solutions in 2019-2020 for some work...and dropped them as team member for...shall we say...lack of performance. We moved on to Raytheon...a higher price but a much better degree of service and performance.

Data behind the latest poll as of today on RCP. 8b and 12b/h are illustrative. People no longer trust elites in government (8b) and do not trust the federal government or local media (12b/h)

That same poll should give Republicans something to think about

58% Confident votes will be counted properly in 22 election

                        59% Oppose Open Carry

60% support abortion in the first 15 weeks

62% Support term limits for SCOTUS

63% agree with mask mandates for indoor spaces

50% (within the margin of error) don't believe that there are to many immigrants coming to America

and only 25% of people that express a religion are Evangelical. 18% overall . 25% of those polled overall were None's

By this poll the Republican Platform isn't supported by most Americans. Or at least the parts they are yelling about the most

                          Somehow that doesn't surprise me.

I've lost nearly every ounce of respect I had for that man.

That's probably why they've lost every presidential election, save one, since 1988. GHW Bush was pretty much their high water mark.

Both are state issues and hard to get a true national read on. Open carry probably polls way higher in the South than in the NE or West Coast.
