In order to qualify for a signing bonus, your diploma or degree must be associated with the trade you're going into and you must get this from the recruit officer up front. You cannot go back and ask for the bonus once your swore the Queen's Oath.

You need to talk to your recruit officer now.

As for your career path. Wait. You've still got recruit course to go through and QL courses to qualify. At least do one stint at the battle school and understand the combined arms concept before deciding.

I gather from your inference the Battle School (in the Canadian Army) is a basic/advanced combined arms school. The SADF Battle School is a course specifically for company officers (and selected NCOs).

        Company and Battalion.

However, section and platoon, especially the reserves, don't miss a chance at added training when going on deployment.

I just remembered a story with regards to the educational qualifications required for jawans...
my dad was posted in shillong, in the AR, and very near to my house a gurkha regiment's training center was located(5/8GTC)...so there'd be many kancha's(helpers...rough translation..it may be wrong though...brig, capt..do the needful..if im wrong) who'd work in our homes till they got through in the recruitment rallies the GTC held...so we had one guy at our place too...and this guy did had no formal education, but the recriters wanted a minimum 10-pass, so one day i suddenly saw a proper certificate of BHU(banaras hindu university, a very good university in india), and that too not of graduation, but a post graduate degree...!!! and with excellent marks mind you...and to think that that blighter did not ever study...:) :)

haha.... yes, I guess its not hard to obtain certifucates from schools; The real problem lies in getting certficates from the School Board for the two board classes; i.e. 10th standard and 10+2 standard. I wonder if he got recruited...
