  • Range Fudd: "That thar Russkie Wooof ammo will ruin your barrel! It'll wear out the chamber! It's junk!"

Me: "Hmm... let me do some quick math." <calculates silently> "If I shoot just 3 cases of Wolf, I will have saved enough money to buy a complete new upper for my AR, let alone a new barrel."

I have always liked the Russian steel ammo. It's a bit light, but goes bang each time.

    • I've been told by range Fudds that the Wolf ammo is no good, too. I've heard that the problem is if you shoot brass after the wolf, because the wolf doesn't expand as much, it fouls the chamber more, so when you fire a couple strings of wolf followed by brass, you get tough extration.

I tend to only shoot commie ammo - it has this weird tendency to always go bang. For that matter, I like commie guns for the same reason.

      • Chicks with guns!

My own chicks, that is! Sunday, my wife says "I'm taking our daughter shopping. You can't come with." "Uh, OK."

Seven hours later, they return armed to the teeth with nicer handguns than I have. One thing about my wife, when she's into the big purchases, she tends to get the higher-end stuff.

Her's and her's 9mm automatics, a Sig Sauer P938, and a Glock model 26. I'm trying to talk my daughter into taking the Glock (a bit more friendly) and me somehow hanging on to the Sig, which is very M1911-like in function. The Sig is a jewel, and comes with tritium sights as standard. A truly sweet pistol. I suspect it's going to have quite a bark and bite on the range, as small and slim as it is.

Range report in a few days...

Well, if someone goes over there and messes with Chogy, those guns could be among the ones they might face. Still part of "Chogy's forces"

            Nice guns Chogy

            • OK Chogy. If that Sig doesn't work out for you and you want to send it to the land of unwanted toys let me know and I will give you my.....er.... the address. Just keep in mind that anything less than a single ragged hole at 25 yards is a lemon.;);)

              • Very nice.

Leave your girl's toys alone and get your own! Wouldn't you rather stimulate the economy by making your own purchase?

                    • I wanted to go to the range today so much I could taste it. But I couldn't get away - maybe tomorrrow. I'd like to use a little more of my target ammo this year, its been too long since I been there too. I'd like to put some more rounds through my .380, I haven't fired it much at all.

                      • A very nice indoor range opened up last year close to my home. Here in Metroplex DFW, unless you want to drive a long way, you are stuck using a pay-to-play range. I miss living in New Mexico, where public land was so available for casual shooting.

Anyway, this new range is wildly successful, so much so that on any given day, the wait can be hours. They give you a beeper, then ring it when your turn is ready. Kind of takes the fun away.

Love my A2. I'm probably going to upgrade it to an A4 eventually after graduating jump school by putting RIS rails and a flattop upper housing on it, but she can hammer at 600 better than I can with 77-grainers.
