No, I haven't fired it yet. Something keeps coming up during the weekends...

And no, you can't have it. I found this on sale and this model doesn't go on sale often.

Darn you, where is the Spirit of Giving nowadays?

Update: He is enjoying shooting the Ruger 1911, so there

        • An air gun.

          It requires no licence.

Getting a licence is too much of a bureaucratic hassle.

As an Army officer we could keep two weapons without licence as per the Arms Act.

But, retired people cannot have weapons without licence.

          • In India you don't have much of a choice with insanely strict gun laws. Guns legally sitting back at home: 2 .12 bore IOF (Indian Ordinance Factory) double barrels, and an IOF .32 Ashani pistol (basically a Colt 1903). Though, can easily discuss the workings of a 9mm Browning copy as well.

                • Schweeeet! Han Solo would be proud!

George Lucas had a thing for German weapons, except I will admit a lot of the Storm Troopers carried modified Sterling submachine guns.

As I recall, some storm troopers carried MG-42's or were they MG-34's?

-34's, I believe. Those funky curved butt stocks added a nice flair to the Storm Troopers' evil-ness. But who knows? I suspect there were scenes where they used MG-42 prop guns as well.

And their basic blaster was a Sterling... I like the "scope" which appears to be a spotting scope mounted backwards.

It's a good thing logistically that they were all clones. One uniform size fits all! ;)

                        Sir,

                        Great to see you post.

I would have thought that getting a license for you would at least be easy, given your background as a retd. Army office as well as the various other governmental posts you have held.

I have heard go0d things about the 1903 hammerless. As a 1911 enthusiast, I would like to try out Browning's other creations, such as the Colt 1903 and the Hi Power. Did you get a chance to shoot the Ashani?

                            • Along with my M1 Garand (a beautful piece; dalem got to shoot it), I just got two new guns last week: a Springfield Armory XDm-9 Compact (going to carry it when I'm very familiar with it) and a Mossberg 500 Persuador tactical shotgun for castle defense (either #6 or #8 birdshot).

NOW then...I need to start larding on the accessories. Probably going to carry the pistol concealed, so a good inside the waistband back rig, and I may see if I like a laser inside the guide rod. That will probably take care of that.

But the shottie...I'm going for Robo-gun, here. Flashlight inside the foregrip is a must-have. Sling/bandolier combo, a rifled barrel for slugs plus a sight of some flavor (open for your suggestions), satellite radio, leather seats and a moonroof.

I went with the Mossberg because I want a multi-purpose shotgun that I can convert to any use without gunsmithing experience. Seriously, what y'all think may be useful? I'm thinking of some kind of conversion stocks, so I can take it into the field for birds, or to the range for clays.
