  • Hey I wont go to specifics with him. He is at the shooting range since when he was 7, so I just nodded when he said that ;)

I don't know about consistently, usually we only fired up to about 300m at the range. I could go 15 for 15 at 300m at night, 5 in the head and 10 in the torso.

The 527m shot was when we had some spare ammo left over, and they pretty much let us put out whatever we wanted wherever we wanted, so I picked up one of the metal targets and dragged it from the 300m line to the very end of the range, which I was later told was 527m. Some guys shot at deodorant cans, one of the fellas found a whole watermelon somewhere (that was fun to watch ), water and coke bottles, basically whatever we could find.

And who said the army can't be fun? :Dancing-Banana:

      • IIRC your CT snipers used to put watermelons behind targets depicting human faces. The whole idea was to get them used to the idea that human head blows when it gets shot.Dunno if it's a myth, but sounds like a great idea.Still,I fear the practice might drive the price of watermelons up.

That's one hell of an idea, since we have pretty cheap watermelons over here :P

Not that I haven't shot any, but not one behind a target

I dunno about that. We've shot watermelons for fun, never for training purposes. I also had very little contact with CT snipers or snipers in general, so I wouldn't be able to tell you if it's myth or true

That's pretty damn impressive! Now do you think it was all skill or some luck involved?:wors:

I'd like to think it was mainly skill, giving that I was able to at 100% at 300m, though on a windy night there's a very large element of luck involved as well.

I haven't really shot anything in 3 years, I wonder if I've still got it or if my skill has degraded somewhat...

OK, that was the wrong answer. If asked that question again, and to maintain cred as a shooter, you should have said, "It was 100% skill and you would do damn well not to imply that ever again!"

I saved up enough money for one, but unfortunately due to CA's retarded law these are not "safe" for us peons. I don't want one of those new ones made in Germany. I want one that was made in the 1950s in Switzerland.

I don't mind owning something Made in Germany, but SIG has to be Swiss. Period.

You are correct. SIG is Swiss. SIG Sauer is German.

All of my SIG Sauers were made in Germany (most of them W. Germany) except for 2: a P220 Combat that's made in New Hampshire and a P225 that's made in Switzerland.

                            • Living in South Korea, I can't own any guns, but I used the K2 rifle when I was in the military (mandatory service) and saw some of those K1s that are used by the officers. The K1 is officially a submachine gun (it was developed to replace the M3), but it is more like a carbine or a shortened assault rifle. Once saw the K5 (pistol). All three are good, but relatively unknown guns outside Korea.
I haven't seen the new K11 Daewoo Korea is developing, but I'd love to see and try it.

                              • Yeah, my P226 is stamped with "Made in W. Germany." Pretty cool.

Anyways, I came here to show off the latest addition to my little collection of guns. This beauty is a Christmas gift from my Dad's dwindling collection, an Ithaca Model 87 Featherlite DeerSlayer Police Special (DSPS) with a matte nickel finish, made in 1994. A most wonderful and beautiful 12-gauge chambered for 2.75" and 3.00". Can't wait to get her home and out onto the range for some practice!
