    LOL

    Interesting. Is it DAO?
    Nope. SA-standard 1911.
How do you like that hammer?
    Take some getting used to.
    Is it steel?
    Yes
Have you ever experienced any problems from it (light primer strikes, etc.)?
Nope. And I have shot about everything and my own reloads. Not one sputter.

The earlier models had a small nub on the hammer to facilitate cocking, I think last year they removed it completely. It can still be put in half-**** and re-cocked fairly easily. Now if you drop on a no-fire you do have to cycle it, no choice, but that has yet to happen.

And just look at ALL those Mustangs! I am soooo jealous!

Well it looks like I'll be selling the K98, FR8, and maybe another rifle to help fund something that I always wanted.

    Today

Here's what I carried (and shot) today.

The .380s are small enough that the grip curve makes sense for control, but I find it almost too large on this .45 (1991A1 Compact), never mind on models with it extended.

    Truly, I doubt it.

I shot an absolutely beautiful 1911 today: factory custom, maybe 50 years old, mirror nickel finish, officers model size bbl and slide on a full height frame, in .38 Super, ivory grips with the Colt logo in sterling silver.

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear.

I would never dishonor or violate the holy writ of John Browning (PBUH)! (or disable the grip safety)

But I don't like a long beavertail on the grip safety. I prefer the "classic," shorter version that doesn't protrude so far from the frame.

Its got "ultra crimson carry II" stamped on the side. Its an edition they just started not long ago. The UC2 is all black w/white dot sights and no lasergrip. the UCC2 are two tone w/solid black sights and my wifes actually has the kimber logo on the black side panels of the grips. I had a deal going on a UC2 with night sights AND factory lasergrips in OD green, but it got snagged the day before I called. This was the last one in stock and sans the tritium sights of the other saved me about $150 anyway.:)

Love the laser grips, though. CT gave me a pair for my J-frame. Very nice.
