      • why a frog-sticker on the rifle?
There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that "My ignorance is just as good as your knowledge."- Isaac Asimov

          • Heh, there's only about 3 inches of exposed blade on that bayonet!

That's how an M7 fits on a 16.5" bbl AR.

Did anyone notice the skull-crusher flash suppressor?

Definitely wouldn't want to get smacked in the head or ribs with that bad boy.

What i really want to get is one of these bayonets:

Of course, i do have numerous other bladed options:

                    • Since I started working again shortly after being laid off, that severence package is coming in handy. I bought this M1868 Springfield:

                      M68 Rifle SN6733

I'll probably have it Monday. This one's a bit grungy, but there is a nice rifle underneath it. This will be my fourth Trapdoor, and should have the best bore out of all of them. My M1866 would come in second for barrel quality.

These pre-date the good 'ol .45-70 cartridge, and fire the .50-70 Government. I got the '66 to group halfway decently with a smokeless load, so I'm looking forward to trying this out.

                      Ed-

                      • A seller at the gunshow wanted to sell me a "fair" quality gun for a "good" quality price. Out of state with a "cruffle" licence, the "deal" was no sales tax, no transfer or check fees. "Cash money and I'll walk it out to your car", he says...

That's actually legal in CA under C&R rules established by the ATF.

Any long gun (semis will be subject to "assault weapon" rules in CA) over 50 years old is C&R and you can cash and carry it. What we normally do is exchange information like driver's license and address. Get a copy of his C&R license if he has one. It allows him to transfer and carry C&R guns across state borders. A lot of C&R holders go to Arizona to buy C&R handguns and bring them back to CA, and register them with CADOJ. They bypass the 10 day wait and the FFL fee this way.

                          • Hmmm. That contradicts what a local (police) Sergeant told me this morning but I didn't go into it at any length. He said he was glad I wasn't in jail, I'd have to get somebody to walk my dog. I'm gonna follow up on that a little bit more, another show in April!

Curio and Relic/Licensed Collectors - Calguns Wiki

I frequent calguns.net and there is a lot of good information. I have a C&R license and had 3 Mosin rifles shipped right to my house. If I were in a free state, I could have Walther P38 or a Romanian TT shipped to my door.

Local police normally don't know much about the finer details of gun laws.
