That above comment should always, always be taken with a grain of salt given my experience. The only part I know, first hand that will happen, is the school field trips which don't pay.
It is amazing how different venues get impacted by school groups. The private battlefield park where I am a docent is greatly dependent on school groups...a huge part of our annual operating budget is covered by them. There are times we would have up to 80 school groups a week in the park. It meets a requirement for the state 5th grade curriculum on the Civil War. With COVID we lost all of that (no one was in class) and hammered us hard. We had to cut 9 full time staff from 21 total...big hit.

The park is now totally dependent on volunteers to keep operating.

I think I'll adjust the odds on her heading for Galveston. Since they have passed on her residing at Pier 21, that leaves Seawolf Park. So, I go to their webcam again and see this today.

Does this look like either some preliminary dredging or some determining existing draft? It appears to be taking place where she would fit along that quay.

The drydock the shipyard bought to repair Texas arrived in Galveston a few days ago.
In August Texas will be towed down there to begin it's rebirth!

For a good view of the drydock and eventually USS Texas, the following webcam has a great view (at moments as it pans)

She leaves for drydock in a few hours now at 0400 hours. After her repairs then a new home who knows where yet.

“He was the most prodigious personification of all human inferiorities. He was an utterly incapable, unadapted, irresponsible, psychopathic personality, full of empty, infantile fantasies, but cursed with the keen intuition of a rat or a guttersnipe. He represented the shadow, the inferior part of everybody’s personality, in an overwhelming degree, and this was another reason why they fell for him.”

Dry docking sped up in time and you get a glimpse of some holes in the bow.

The Harbor webcam seems to have found it's niche! So far it has remained on the drydock and hopefully will stay that way!

I've been watching the video's as they are released by the USS Texas foundation. Interesting to see the underwater damage and the repairs they are making.
