Here are some links in english:

It's a very explosively story because russia of course doesn't want that the Su-27 is inspected by NATO.
It's strange that the Su-27 got into lithuanian airspace even if the navigationcomputer should have been defekt because it flew in a formation with other Su-27s to Kaliningrad. The estonians are angree too. They aloud the russian formation of Su27s to overfly their country but during the flight the formation suddenly switched of their transponders. Very mysterious.

Like I said there's a rotation of NATO partners in policing the lithuanian airspace. Before the germans where there it was part of the netherlands F-16s. The belgian F.16s where there in spring of 2004.

    Su-27 crashes in Latvia

On 15th of september a russian Su-27 (6th army VVS and VPO) crashed in Lithuania. The reason for the crash should be a defekt of the navigationcomputer.

Because Lithuania is a NATO partner but has no own AF different NATO countries rotate in air policing the latvian airspace. Now it's the german's turn. When the crash happened a QRA of german F-4 phantoms where on there way after the Su-27 invaded the lithuanian airspace.

The pilot survived and is momentarely cross-examined by lithuanian police.

Edit: Why can't I edit the title of the thread??? It should be Lithuania not Latvia.
