    Somewhat. Germans may have felt justified by the expenditure at Sevastopol. Had DORA shown up outside Stalingrad in late August 1942 it would have posed an interesting threat to both the city defenses and assembly points on the east bank of the Volga.

    This is an interesting point. Had they been ready might the German Army contemplate, instead, a direct assault through the Maginot line? With their inmobility, pre-positioning might have been an intelligence indicator as to main effort. It also, therefore, raises the question of where might the BEF and French deploy their mobile forces. Postured forwardly against the Belgian border? Maybe not.
