I don't believe we should be trying go in there and run Syria, but running their country and addressing the use of chemical weapons don't have to be the same thing. Nobody said Assad wasn't going to have some Tomahawks landing on his chemical weapons units.sigpic"If your plan is for one year, plant rice. If your plan is for ten years, plant trees.

Gents,
Syria may be a god damn complex awful mess, but what's the cost of letting things spiral?
What if either Hezbollah or the Jihadists get their hands on chemical weapons?
What if Assad falls and the Salafists prevail, gaining control of a sovereign state and wide spread popular support?
What if Assad wins and Iran becomes emboldened by its success, and realizes that a US "Red Line" means zip, let alone "all options are on the table".
IMO, in this case, "complex" means there's still an opportunity to influence the outcome without undue cost. By the time we get to "simple", it could well be a simple, clear cut, catastrophe.

Some Syrians may indeed want the Americans to come in and take out their enemies for them, but thats as far as the welcome goes. Just like what happened in Iraq.

And by the way, in all this what is Russia doing? If Syrians are serious about hating Assad, let see them burning Putin's effigies. Lets hear of them attacking the Russian base.
Stay out of it Obama!

reshaping of mid-east is going to be interesting. I look forward to all new countries poping up as I said before.
Kurdistan, Alawaitistan, Druzistan, Shiraq, Suniraq.
Afghan / Pakistan war is going to be interesting once the U.S. leaves the region. A semi-partial civil war if you consider internals.Originally from Sochi, Russia.
