  • Russian commentators are now moving the goalposts and downgrading what had been a blitzkrieg offensive to an operation of "active defense".

Yep, that's a direct quote from a news interview Putin gave a couple of days ago. ISW and other analysts saw it as Putin deliberately trying to wind back public expectations of major gains because Russia simply doesn't have the mass available to launch a significant offensive at this time. Given current production limitations and the Russians insistence on holding what they have at all costs it seems unlikely they will have the those reserves any time soon.

I believe that's what the kids on the World Of Tanks chat used to call "surprise butt secks"

He was an utterly incapable, unadapted, irresponsible, psychopathic personality, full of empty, infantile fantasies, but cursed with the keen intuition of a rat or a guttersnipe. He represented the shadow, the inferior part of everybody’s personality, in an overwhelming degree, and this was another reason why they fell for him.”

The age may account for a higher bomblet dud rate...the older the munition the higher the bomblet duds. Same for DPICM & FASCAM.

                      But still devastatingly effective!

                        • Footage of ATACMs being launched in Ukraine:

                          https://mstdn.social/@noelreports/111251800423918630

Not sure if these are different angles of the same launch, but the first video shows only two missiles, and the second video shows three.

                          Abridged video of the aftermath:

                          • Did Putin just accidentally call the SMO a war?

At the end, he says, "война есть война", "voyna yest voyna", which means "war is war".

                              • So informed opinion from me on why we are just now seeing ATACMS in the hands of the Ukrainians.

The explanation is pretty simple in my mind...the Precision Strike Missile has entered Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) meaning stocks of the future system (PSM) are backfilling the stores of ATACMS. Which makes ATACMS more and more excess to needs.

Don't think it takes any big brain thinking. I've seen this happen with Army system fieldings for other systems for over 30 years.
