On the other hand it might have nothing to do with "blame China" and everything to do with signalling to the new Indian Army chief.

He has made it clear that each side intrudes on the other. We're not going to make a big song & dance about transgressions any more. So they perceive us as becoming more aggressive than previously.
I don't think signalling would matter anything to the IA chief. OTOH, I think this is the result of China getting a bad rep, and kind of warning India not to join other countries in bashing it further.

In fact, it’s an opportunity for CPC to accelerate the process of presenting itself as a global power to the wider world. And that too not by making a case of Beijing as a benevolent power that is interested in working in concert with other powers to evolve a coordinated global response to the pandemic. But by bullying smaller neighbours and hectoring the not so small ones.
When the leader is insecure this is the resulting policy. What have these jokers achieved in the last decade other than pissing off every one.

I can think of nothing, other than some 100s of billions, which when their economy stagnates will be used up. America will make sure of that.

Army chief hints at Chinese hand behind Nepal’s protest against the link road to Lipulekh Pass

From what I read, 5 Indians & 7 Chinese injured.

Army will maintain combat readiness on fronts with China and Pakistan despite budgetary cuts due to Covid: Gen Naravane

The face-offs do occur from time to time due to differing perceptions of the LAC. “They also happen when there is a change of commanders on ground. A new commander wants to show he is different from the others. There are a lot of dynamics on why a face-off occurs,” he added.
He is putting it at the local commander level, i'm still maintaining that each Army chief gets only one test. You'd think they'd be more according to this explanation.

              General Bikram Singh - Jun 01 2012 - Jul 31 2014
On Apr 15 2013 we get the DBO incident
This is then followed by the Chumar standoff that went from Apr - May 2013

              General Dalbir Singh Suhag - Aug 01 2014 - Dec 31 2016
On Sept 10 2014, the Demchok standoff began and went on until Sept 27. This occurred when Xi was in India and by Sept 18 had signed 12 deals with India

              General Bipin Rawat - Dec 31 2016 - Dec 31 2019
On Jun 16 2017 we got Doklam

General Manoj Mukund Naravane - Dec 31 2019 - incumbent
He is sitting his test now.

So we see a pattern where the incumbent and past three Indian Army chiefs all get one China test within a year of assuming their post. And in Gen. Suhag's case within a month. All happened under XJP

Could it be as simple as that ? these mandarins ain't too difficult to figure out then.

              General Vijay Kumar Singh - Apr 01 2010 - May 31 2012

VK didn't get the China test from what i can tell. HJT was in charge then.

The same China test has been given to US presidents since George W Bush, Obama got his.

Trump gave China the US test instead. NK : )

Time we started thinking about giving each new PLA commander of the western sector his India test : )
Interesting. Shows how much time you devote here. :D

                  • There are so many India-centric discussions on China, within this sub-group now.
Not sure what the obsession India/South Asians have with China?

If there is any admin, can we not move this more India-centric discussions/thread to the sub-group : South Asia and Central Asia sub-group.
Keep this area more related to countries in East Asia.... has no one heard of Japan/Korea/Mongolia etc?!?!?!

What stops you creating threads to discuss them?

This thread has been here for over two years if you have not noticed.

It lodged a strong protest over the incident, both over the hotline between local commanders as well as to the Indian defence attache in Beijing,” said a source.
According to Jaydev, at around 8:56, the reason that punch took place is because the PLA major was rude to the Indian Captain.

Jaydev recommends this young Lt. be part of any senior military delegation that visits China in the future as is the practice with the PLA.

                        - inducted larger force levels
                        - raised a mountain strike corps which has offensive capability to go into Tibet

                        - force levels in Ladakh have been increased as well
                        - armoured brigades
                        - all weather surveillance

We've improved our capabilities at the border since a decade ago.

So there is no short, sharp, sweet option for the PLA to attack us.

Their only option is to follow the peace treaty of 1993, peace and tranquility on the LOAC.

Do you remember my views about Nepalese people working in India earlier? That needs to apply now more than ever.

Nepal approves new map including Lipulekh, Kalapani, Limpiyadhura amid border row with India

India is not the dumping ground of zero-skilled workers from all of its neighbours.

This appears to be what kicked things off

India and Nepal are at a row after the Indian side issued a new political map incorporating Kalapani and Lipulekh on its side of the border in October last year.
Why did we decide to redraw the map in the first place ?

We did not. Those places are on Indian maps since 1905, when maps were issued, and Nepal knows that since then. It's at the behest of China.

Kalapani is where Nepal/Indian/Chinese borders meet. Even if that area is Nepal's, should we give it to Nepal (?), so that the communist government in Nepal gifts it to China? Slice and dice. Sorry, Nepal, NO. Just give Nepalese people living in India 24 hours to move back to Nepal, and see if China accepts them in their territory. Being soft is what gave these clowns sitting on our periphery such troll ideas. Respect needs to be created with force in geo-politics.
