I understand the number of bombings and attacks well inside Pakistan is on the rise. Does the population in general "blame" anybody beyond the obvious, the terrorists/TTP? Do they believe NATO drove the terror into Pakistan from Afghanistan?

How does the Pakistan army recruit its soldiers? Is there conscription?

                .

Actually they are decreasing. I remember that there was a time (2007/8) when the news of a bomb blast were like regular and on its peak reached one/day, and it was like a daily thing no body use to even mention.

But after the successful operations in Swat and tribal areas they have dramatically decreased to something like 2-4/month and will soon finish, Inshallah.

Does the population in general "blame" anybody beyond the obvious, the terrorists/TTP? Do they believe NATO drove the terror into Pakistan from Afghanistan?
Public in the beginning was very much against the military operations and viewed it like; "killing of our own people by our our forces". But after sometime when the civilian causalities started to increase and some terrorist ideologies(like all Paks who don't support the TTP cause are expendable) were revealed. People started to support the anti terrorist operations(which succeeded only because of popular support of the people)

How does the Pakistan army recruit its soldiers? Is there conscription?
No there is nothing like conscription. But our military is well trained and as per my knowledge; a normal footsoldier never goes in a battlefield before a year of training, which includes six month basic training (necessary to join army) and other six moths of training in service.

And commissioned officers are trained even more.

This October Pak Army team stood first in the event amongst 70 British and 16 teams from other countries of the world including USA, Canada, Germany, France and India etc.

One thing that I've personally noticed is that Pak Armed Forces don't need to advertise like other nations(who run their ads on TV, websites etc).
People join armed forces with proud.

4 Taliban planning Karachi attacks arrested

KARACHI: The Sindh police said they arrested four Taliban militants on Tuesday who were planning "terror attacks" in the prosperous financial hub Karachi.

The four members of main militant umbrella group, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), were arrested during a police raid in the Sohrab Goth area of
southern port city, senior police official Omar Shahid told a press conference.

"The police are interrogating the four men, Amanuddin Munnoo, Ehsan Ullah, Barkat Ullah and Umer Sohrab, who had recently arrived in Karachi from North Waziristan tribal region," Shahid said.

"They have told us that Taliban chief Hakimullah Mehsud sent them to Karachi to launch terror attacks," Shahid said.

"They had plans to attack police offices, shrines and tombs and kill political and religious leaders who are against their extremist thoughts."

Three suicide jackets, rifles, pistols and explosives had been recovered in the raid, he said.

The men were planning to bring suicide bombers to the city from North Waziristan but "the arrests foiled their attempts to strike terror in Karachi", senior police official Mohammad Aslam Khan said.

He said investigators were questioning the suspects about the recent attacks on a police headquarters and a sufi shrine in Karachi.

Thats right, a lots of people think that way.

And then there are some who believe NATO is cooperating with India in a greater goal to Balkanize Pakistan, I put them in the same category of the conspiracy theory believers that also exist in your societies and claim; Pakistan is playing a double game etc etc..

Alleged TTP militant caught ahead of Ashura

He [Haji Rehman] was a resident of Landhi Sherpao Colony and was arrested from Sohrab Goth, where he came to visit his aides,” said SSP Khan. “We have also found a hit list and maps of different places of worship from his possession,” he added. According to Khan, the names of several prominent Shia scholars, clerics, political leaders and government and non-government officials, intelligence and police officials are present on the list. He said that the militants also planned to attack offices of the government, intelligence agencies and the police department, including the CID.
The arrested militant confessed during initial interrogation that he belonged to the Hafiz Saeed Orakzai group of the TTP and planned to sabotage Muharram processions with the help of his accomplices. He also told the police that there are at least six more terrorists present in the city and two of them are suicide bombers, said SSP Khan. He assured that the CID is trying to locate the other militants and will capture them very soon.
The CID seized a huge cache of ammunition — 10 kilogram of explosives, three detonators, a hand-grenade, a roll of detonating cover, a Kalashnikov with 500 live rounds. “Haji Rehman is a hardcore terrorist and has been involved in several attacks in the Orakzai Agency, including those on law-enforcement agencies,” said SSP Khan.

Taliban commander killed in Pakistan: officials

PESHAWAR: Pakistani security officials said Thursday that a Taliban militant commander had been killed in a gunfight with security troops in the tribal belt bordering Afghanistan.

“Asmatullah Bhetani was killed in a gunfight with security forces in South Waziristan on the night between December 7 and 8,” a senior security official told AFP on condition of anonymity.

Another official confirmed Bhetani’s death, saying there had been a reward of 10 million rupees (120,000 dollars) for his arrest.

He was killed in Sararogha, a militant stronghold in South Waziristan, where Pakistan carried out a major offensive to crush the Taliban’s headquarters last year, the official said.

Bhetani was educated at a madrassa in the northwestern town of Dera Ismail Khan, before opening a seminary himself and teaching, the official said.

“He was an important militant commander,” the official said.

Bhetani was arrested twice in 2006, but released after negotiations with tribal elders. – AFP
