Latest report's summary is out. Bad but better again, down 22% from last year in cultivated hectares. 2008 had been down 19% from 2007 so there's a trend beginning to emerge. Entire regions are poppy free and the total provinces "poppy free" is up to 22 from 18 last year.
Yield is higher though.
Helmand is WAAAAAAY down from last year when it had over 103,000 hectares planted. Now around 65,000 hectares. This is significant.
