Thank God. I hope they can keep it open for a prolonged period and fly many out
Doubt it, Biden was opposed to rescuing the South Vietnamese and Mong in the 70's and had to be guilted into evacuating our interpreters. The Afghanis are on their own for better or worse.
Biden legacy, which will live forever in infamy.I feel ashamed.
There is defeat and there is humiliation. These day is the result of lies.Lies by the uniformed.Lies by the media.Lies by politicians. And especially self inflicted lie.
They ignored the reality on the ground for 20 years.
All the fucking hypocrites too busy to topple down statues, all the scum that stole hundreds of billions, sharing them between Afghans and "our" interest groups, all the cowards who stopped us chasing the enemy till his last breath, all the cowards who did not at least shout in the phone to Pakistani scum.
A heartfelt FUCK YOU.I hope I will one day see you in a similar situation, with a crazed crowd chasing you.
What is happening in Afghanistan is very simply a lose-lose situation for all countries in the region and for the western world.
Pakistan may be gloating today but it is not going to be easy for the Taliban to take over.
What are the implications for the region ?
Take Pakistan. The TTP is going to create havoc in Pakistan in the years to come regardless of the outcome in Afghanistan.
Chinese interests are going to be compromised because of the Turkestan movement.
Russian interests are going to be compromised because of the spread of radicalization in the central asian republics which will rebound to Russia.
Iranian interests will also get compromised because a large number of the Shia community is trying to migrate to Iran and they're already flooded with refugees now they'll have some more.
You will have organizations like the islamic state and others being given shelter within Afghanistan which is going to pose a long-term danger to the west and to the united states
So I see all around that there are going to be no victors but there are short-term tactical gains. The American withdrawal is a cause of great happiness to the Iranians, Chinese and Pakistanis. In the long term they will all suffer
As far as India goes i'm not too concerned. There is a lot of talk that some of these fighters can come to Kashmir, we'll handle all of them. We can handle the entire lot of afghan Taliban should they come.
There is absolutely no problem as far as India is concerned i think Pakistan better be very very concerned they are already on the verge of a breakup and this will expedite it further.
This is madness you are literally killing your allies while you take off.
Note that those who are clinging to the plane and others standing on top of a planes fuselage are all men. Running and scrambling to leave their country rather than save their country. I would bet many are not on the list the State Department has for eligible Afghans.

Something we agree on, still heartbreaking that they are dying because they wouldn't risk dying before.
Moved the Afghanistan posts to the Fall of Afghanistan thread here
“He was the most prodigious personification of all human inferiorities. He was an utterly incapable, unadapted, irresponsible, psychopathic personality, full of empty, infantile fantasies, but cursed with the keen intuition of a rat or a guttersnipe. He represented the shadow, the inferior part of everybody’s personality, in an overwhelming degree, and this was another reason why they fell for him.”
The Taliban thinks they are beatable. They will walk 50 miles out of thier way to avoid the Uighur issue right across the border. They know China would go Mongol on them. We won't and we also would not go after the opium trade. We let them live and prosper. No wonder we lost. Its sucks, not a good ending but its an ending. Trump or Biden at least its over for us.
The Chinese can try Mongol. I'm sure the Russians tried similar when they put their time in. The US OTOH tried to make friends with the people in the countryside much like pacification in South Vietnam. What can be learned from both the Russians and US is that you can kill civilians, or make friends with them, but in the end you will get the same result. The Taliban own those mountains and while you may own the valleys so what. Now the Taliban are a hardened and experience force even more so now. So if the Chinese want to try hubris on they can go right ahead. Fact is all of Southeast Asia will now be affected by this for years, if not decades, to come as the Taliban are on a mission against non-believers.
But the "best" part is that the Taliban now have all the weapons of the Afghan army that US taxpayes paid for in essence, for free. Bears the question why?

...and here we hear from the peanut gallery with zero skin in the game. Reminds me of put up or shut up for some reason.
First annual Afghanistan Blame Games are about to begin, featuring US president's (or their ghosts).
President Biden, does the buck stop with you for the scenes we are seeing play out in Kabul?
Biden: No, if Trump had eaten his cornflakes then my wife would not be face palming.
Trump: Typical witch hunt, if Obama had followed through on the surge and not telegraphed that we wanted out we would have won bigly.
Obama: Uh hold on now, uh, if Bush hadn't taken his uh eyes off the ball by invading Iraq.
Bush 43: Ya'll if Clinton had treated Osama as a serious threat in the 90's 9/11 would never have happened in the first place.
Clinton: The entire federal government was in agreement, if your dad had not bailed on the Afghani's in the early 90's, Osama never would have been a factor.
Bush 41 (ghost): the Cold War was over and it was time to get a peace dividend. We had no natural interests there. All I did was wind down Reagan's support funneled through the ISI.
Reagan (ghost): I did what I had to, to combat the Evil Empire. Besides it was actually Carter's baby.

Nope, look at Soviet force levels, They did seek and destroy type missions but they never flooded the zone. I think Soviet and Afghan Army forces total never broke 200k. About half our peak (US/NATO/Afghan security forces). China on the other hand would not just send in hundreds of thousands of troops, but those troops would arrest every iman or suspected iman, or suspected of knowing a local iman Afghani they found for "re-education", or the organ markets.... Like I said the Taliban is and has been going out of its way to not piss off China or say boo about the Uighur issue. They even refuse to let Uighurs join them in the quest to liberate Afghanistan. China is the one power the Taliban fears..... They see what China did to their co-religionists across the border, concentration camps, villages devoid of men, they hear the rumors of executions to provide organs, forced prostitution of Muslim women.....

Carter: I build houses now.
The American people wanted it and three administrations later they got what they wanted.
America is now free to concentrate on other areas.
It does not matter which President did it. You are looking at different shades of the same picture.

As far as I can see there isn't a single woman at the airport. No mothers. sisters, daughters. Do these men have no honour at all?
In the realm of spirit, seek clarity; in the material world, seek utility.

You are aware which gender the people who worked as collaborators overwhelmingly are? And you do realize what happens to collaborators when the other side wins?
