Art is like music, if even one person likes a type of art, it is completely viable. You may not like it, but then they probably feel the same about your idea of art.

Personally, I think Picasso painted crap.

As to being hateful. Until someone forces you to view it, or it's used by the artist to further an agenda of attacks on someone, it's free speach.

I dont think any "art" should be considered hateful or distressing.
    Dont get me wrong.
I come from a society that has greatly enriched art.
But somehow I cannot convince myself that a mother like figure is drawn naked and made to sit on the tail of another figure(know for its devotion to the mother like figure) can be labelled "art".

This picture, which was originally posted by Platinum is called Ardhanareeswara.(half man - half women)

The idea behind this is :

Men and women are two sides of the same coin. They are complementary to each other. The Ardhanareeswara concept is a clear portrayal of this sublime idea. Women, in Indian tradition are the equals of men in substance, as the ‘Ardhanareeswara’ concept symbolises.

Traditionally Hindus hold it that male and female are to work togethers,as equal partners in the universe and it is for this reason that even male gods are depicted as seeking help from female gods. This concept is carried further to its logical climax in the form of Ardhanareeswara, formed by the fusion of Siva and Sakthi in one body, each occupying one half of the body, denoting that one is incomplete without the other.

IIRC the Ardhanareeswara form of Shiva was perfected by the Gandhara school art - a fusion of Indian and Greek art.

If anyone were willing to pay for it, this could be considered art...bad art...but art none the less:

It was meant as an example. Everyone's tastes are different, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". Many like Picasso, I think everything he did, especially in his middle and late years, was crap. I like THL's picture much better than Don Quixote. That should have no effect on how you feel about him though. Like I said, if even one person like it...

In exchange for my computer drawing?

Right now I am planning on coming down in March. I am dying to see the Victory Ship up there in Tampa.
