Do you think this "incident" affected KFC or Baskin Robbins stock for the day? It is not as though these companies are now in any sort of financial distress because your profit margin was better than theirs. The same with these kids - people, leave them alone - they are selling lemonade on their front lawns. They are not fortune 500 companies, they are 11 year old boys. They could be out stealing and doing drugs and marking graffiti all over the town of Salem, instead they are finding something constructive to do with their time...don't charge them for that.

Though I always enjoy playing games with TopHat - - and I have admitted to not being as far left as some ( Mr. Moore, for example ) I am still playing left field. I may rendezvous with the center fielder on occasion, but I always come back home.

Just because I have my own thoughts, does not make me any less a liberal. The things that keep me from changing to center field; the things that I disagree with the most, happen to also be the things that are most important to me and the things that I most want to protect.

You are correct. I have yet to have come across a topic here that brings out my "true leftness". To be honest - I am actually embarrassed at the idea of the stereotypical hollywood leftists, including Mr. Moore and his facade, representing the all of us. I could not even imagine being that ignorant and lost...and then there is Rush Limbaugh. I would be equally embarrassed, possible more so, to have people affiliate my thoughts and beliefs with that clown as well.

Since I cannot be a far left or a far right, that has me near the middle. (I want to say here that I am basing my thoughts on the last two elections of GW Bush since Clinton was in office prior to that and I was too young to vote and too lost to care before Clinton). Conservative Republican views on stem-cell research, abortion, gay rights and the emphasis of religion in society (Christianity) are what keeps me slightly to the left. The Conservative views on these topics are what I do not agree with, cannot back and hope can be eliminated in the future.

Nothing to worry about that. Besides, from my point of view, the youth of America was too lost to care during Clinton's tenure.

The 90s were....yeah

Gawd, and people were embarrassed about the 70s...

BTW, I'm a Libertaian, but I think even they are too socialized. Scarry huh?

What I meant here was in the last election Kerry was more liberal (go figure) about gay relationships. While he also did not support "marriage", he was more "for" civil unions in regards to the benefits that couples get. Now, I did disagree with Kerry in that he thought that the "Don't ask, don't tell" policy should not be in effect - I personally don't think that anyone should be asking or telling...or caring what anyone else is or is not doing in that regard, or how it is being done for that matter. Bush was against gays in the boy scouts - which I just think is bizarre to even mention specifically.

Religion should be protected. But GW Bush is for religion based therapy and programs for criminals and addicts and I don't think that the government should be trying to rehabilitate people with religion.

The other point was that Bush wanted to emphasize and push abstinence while Kerry was for family planning programs and education. I don't think that only pushing abstinence is a realistic approach to todays youth.

The actual point of that was Bush supported the Boy Scouts' right to say their members can't be openly gay. I actually see their point, I doubt they could survive the lawsuits from one child molesting scout master. Personally I'm all for private clubs' right to say who can be a member and who cannot.

I'm actually for both, whatever works.

Again, I'm for both. Though, I do not know where any of the more "liberal" side's programs were replaced with the more "conservative" side's.

I have to go with Bush on that one for the reason Confed mentioned, since it is a private organization and it does have it's own charter and oath to abide by.

On the other hand, I think he ought to have kept his opinion to himself, as a politician, since it is a private organization and not governmental

Except the ACLU made it a political issue with their suits. The legislature just passed a law that over rules the judical decision to stop Boy Scout use of public land.

http://www.firstamendmentcenter.org/news.aspx?id=15598

Note the vote, 98-0. Even the left supports the Scouts in reality...
