I worry about the influence of the doctors in this situation - there is a lot of money to be made with all these procedures. It seems like some kids who are just going through a phase (80% from the article) may be injured by this drug therapy and the expenses of all the involvement with the doctors could be a motive to go ahead for some doctors. There was a sad story about a failed gender reassignment many years ago - which was the "solution" for a circumcision accident (the boy's penis was destroyed)- the patient hated what had been done to him and sued the doctors who tried to reassign him as a female.
