I have no issues in eating animals (despite of living on mainly vegan/vegetarian food myself).. if we eat pigs, those are as smart as dogs and cats, why not cats and dogs. But the turn this thread took was hilarious:D

In any case, I find it very odd that peopel who eat pigs can be fiercely opposing eating of dogs, cats or horses. But thatīs just me.. Dogs are said to be good tasting, no idea, but horse and beaver taste great for sure:D

I have two cats, I would love to have a dog too, but I am allergic:I My family has always had cats and dogs.. animals are great and they teach children a lot about compassion and responsibility.

I personally would stop eating the meat if I found out that I could not kill an animal for food. That is where I draw the line. IMHO: most of the modern Western people should either start to care about their industrial animals, or stop eating them. I do not touch industrial meat if I have an alternative.

Personally, I've eaten dogs twice in my life.

Once I was tricked into eating it as a child and the second time, I just wanted to out of the curiosity factor while I was in Asia.

Tasted almost like shredded lamb but it's not something I would eat on a regular basis.

I've tried snakes, pigeons, sparrows, grasshoppers, and just about everything that passes for food around the world but for some reason, I've never tried cat meat before.

Probably will try it if I can find a place on my next visit to Asia.

I also love the taste of bacon and will probably commit genocide if I don't eat it at least once a week but I will not put a pork chop in my mouth, even if someone puts a loaded gun to against my head.

Probably my favorite food is buffalo, which I find is much more tender than beef and has a much beefer taste than beef itself.

Most distasteful thing I've ever eaten is escargot, which has the taste and texture of what I imagine frozen snot would taste/feel like.

...And I just realized this is probably not what Whiskey had in mind when he started this thread.

In Germany rabbit is traditionally sold with one paw unskinned - because when skinned cat and rabbit look near-identical otherwise.

I don't know if this is true or not, but rumor has it that the old time mountain men (trappers, indian fighters) in the U.S. West, thought that mountain lion (cougar) was the best-tasting wild meat available. I find that hard to believe when buffalo (bison) was plentiful and quite tasty.

Anyways, wouldn't exactly recommend it to any of you, but mainly because it really doesn't taste that good.

Carnivores just don't taste as good as Vegetarians...

*Don't look at me like that*

    Also, interesting cat
    Because it was roadkill. Yuck

Dog raised for eating are treated just like pigs. Change the diet 30 days prior to killing to get the gamy taste out of the meat. Or better yet, raise them like veil. (So I've heard)

Escargot with garlic butter are fantastic or in paella. Rabbit is on the Lukins menu quite often and the odd sparrow when in Cyprus goes down a treat

We tease our cat about being a stewing cat - too old for baking or fying. But we'd never cook her really... Escragot taste like little bits of tenderloin steak to me - delicious...

Escargot are great if well made, but sometimes I have been served stuff that was so hard chew that it made me think about tyres.. There are a lot of smaller edible land snails all over the world, most of them are delicious.

So how does this work, Whiskey?

You sit the cat down on the sofa and repeatedly tell it, "you're a stewing cat.....you're a stewing cat..."

And does the cat cringe in fear or what?
