Congratulations on your home coming. If anything, hockey is better in Canada.![]()
Well, after many long years gallivanting around the world I have finally returned home.
I grew up in BC and was really hoping to live there again upon my return but the work situation is not outstanding. The missus and I knew this so she managed to bag a transfer with her company to Yellowknife.
I even got to fly up here with her to decide if this is a move we wanted to make. Conveniently that visit was right at the end of the playoffs and I got to watch game 7 in Vancouver. I landed back from Yellowknife and had booked a town car. They allowed us to have a few days in Van before we returned to Australia and I only missed the first 20 seconds of the game.
Should have been a fairy tale with us winning but I suppose you can't have everything. Plus I've never been in a riot before so that was rather entertaining. I just watched and didn't do anything of course. I'm not that stupid and when it got silly vacated to area.
I also got to fly business class through Hong Kong! I don't even work for them either! Awesome.
Then they even paid for our move up here.
I left Oz early to see my mother and friends for a month before Sarah flew over. I bought my very first 4x4 in Vancouver and drove up. In the years I was away I only saw my sister once and she moved to Ontario a few years before I went to Europe. She happen to get laid off by her company at the time I was to drive up there. She worked for that call centre that screwed over their employees in Ontario.
Anyway, she had no money so I flew her over and took her on my road trip as a way to catch up. We had a blast and only fought a few times. We are siblings after all and will say whats up as needed. :P
Now I'm living in Yellowknife only to discover scaffold work is hard to come by here....... Thank god Alberta is still booming and it looks like I'll have to work down there in the oil fields.
It's been so long Canadians think I'm Australian because I sound funny. Hope that goes away soon.
I'M HOME!!!! (sorta)![]()

It must be nice to have decent coffee.
What do you mean about the coffee? All I can get is Tim Hortons in Yellowknife. There are options but Timmies is the best one of those.
I do like my Lavazza lattes. I'll get an espresso machine when I settle in and order some.

Enjoy coming home. It's always a great experience. Savor it, it doesn't happen too often
Meddle not in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.
Abusing Yellow is meant to be a labor of love, not something you sell to the highest bidder.
Enjoy the life without kangaroos and Foster's. Must be great.
And I second to gunnut, at least the hockey is way better :D

Yeah it's been nice. Too bad it's not where I grew up but so far I am loving Yellowknife. Mind you I've not wintered here yet.
Taking my Yota out for some wheeling has been great fun though!

I almost forgot, isn't it terrible now that everyone is driving in the wrong lane?

Holy crap! You weren't kidding about the 4x4.

No we drive on the right side of the road. Both on the right and the correct side!
Yeah GN, I love it. I plan on doing a lot of work to it this winter. Snorkel, locking diffs, front bumper and winch for starters.
Damn, I thought this was a thread about SWSNBN moving back to Canada.
Imagine the disappointment I'm feeling right now.
Congrats Ex- Expat Canuck.
I see your name has been changed to reflect the move.
