Z, don't get me started on battlefield area nicknames!
Everywhere GIs go we have to use a different name because we can't speak the local dialect.
There are some great names for areas in World War 1 & World War 2 from the doughboys and GIs.
For those who are in or were in the US Army there is Squaw Ti t in Yakima, Chinaman's Hat at NTC, the Hills Misery and Agony at Ft Knox.
For history buffs the Antietam Battlefeild has Bloody Lane and the bloody half hundred acres of a former corn field the most sacred piece of American soil. More Americans died at Antietam than have ever died in one location on one day anywhere else at anytime- 3654 dead. This beats any battle in WWI, Pearl Harbor and 9-11.
