Go the F**k to Sleep - Samuel L Jackson

Another version of this has been taken off youtube, but this one is still there. I think it is a scream, and I don't even have kids. Enjoy it while you can.

Written by a parent who has been there and done that. I love running into new parents who complain how hard it is taking care of their newborn baby. All I can say is - "Wait until they can talk and run around with their hair on fire. You'll be dreaming of this time, and how simple and easy it was."

The text is a little brutal for my taste. I understand Sam's just the narrator. Still, like many of his roles, he's damned believable.

I assume this is actually meant to provide parents with "perspective". I'm sure they've been successful on that score...

Reminds me of the kid's t-shirt I once saw that said, "When I was little, my parents taught me to walk and talk. Now all they want me to do is sit-down and shut-up!"

A little brutal for my taste as well. I never had trouble with either of my kids going to sleep. Rubbing their back or feet while reading a book, put mine out in 5 minutes. Still does. Just last night when my daughter came home from work at McDonalds (12:30 p.m.), she went straight to her room, put on her pjs, I took her something to drink, lotioned and rubbed her feet, for all of 5 minutes, she was telling me her events at work, and fell asleep in mid-sentence.

And gets too repetitive and loses its charm, each page is getting old after a bit.

Would consider myself a big fan of Sam L J

Yeah the language could have been toned down and it still would have been funny. There are other ways to express a parent's immense frustration.

Every kid is different. Some sleep great. My son did not. I remember putting him in a backpack and walking around the block at Holloman AFB at 3:00 A.M. as we'd found that the bounce of the backpack was the only thing that put him to sleep. In the shadow of the street lamp, I'd see his little head popping out of that thing, checking out the world, wide awake, digging on life.
