Well folks, the plans are being finalized as we speak for Bigfella's 2011 US Tour. The final tour dates will depend on a bit of number crunching, but here is what is proposed:
Sept 9-13: Seattle
Sept 14-27 split between DC & NYC
Sept 28-Aug 1: Memphis
I haven't decided on whether or not I'll do DC or NYC first until I hear back from some folks I'm planning to catch up with to make sure they'll actually be there. If anyone here can think of any good reasons to be in or avoid either place (some big holiday that clogs things up or something worth seeing) then pitch in.
If the money is too tight I'll shave a few days off here & there, but at this point it is looking good.
I'll give updates as my plans firm up - which should be in a week or so.

I'll look at my calendar. Good chance I'll see you up in Seattle. Sister lives on Mercer Island and I owe her a visit too. I'll P.M. my phone #. Rock n' roll museum there along with some good seafood, coffee, and brews. Not imbibing these days but don't see that as an impediment to a good time.![]()

Yeah a good trip stateside is on the cards once I get the mortgage paid off.
Lots of ideas about viewing some old hardwear, engineering firsts and specific geographic locations and weather events.
Last time I wasted it.

I rarely drink myself. Might try a glass or two from one of your fine microbreweries, but imbibing isn't high on the agenda. Rock'nroll museam sounds like a good idea. Not really a seafood or coffee guy (yeah, I know, going to Seattle & not drinking coffee) but I imagine there will be plenty of things to keep me busy.

If you decide to come to WI, look me up, I have a spare room... But it sounds like your itinerary isn't bringing you to this neck of the woods- I guess I'll have to come there some day - it is on my list of places to see.

Jay, sadly I won't be getting to your neck of the woods. I would love to get back there one day (visited rural Michigan as a kid) and there are folks there I would love to see. Unfortunately the US is just too big for me to cover in one go. Thanks for the offer, though. The best I can do in return is offer you a sofa-bed in melbourne, but it is yours if you are ever in town (on the upside, I am pretty centrally located). if you ever make it this far be sure to catch up.

Thanks, I appreciate your offer and really do hope to take you up on it some day. I have this fantasy about going to India to visit my team in Pune, then going to Australia to visit there and experience down under (I'd love to ride the Perth railroad and visit the wreck of the Cerberus - I intend to get in the water and touch the metal), and stop in Japan to see the Mikasa, of course Pearl Harbor is on the way back and now the Iowa will be a necessary stop. One thing I'm pretty sure about, it isn't going to happen for a few years yet - with a young daughter and never ending job.
