My place ran off rainwater for 30 years. Then my friendly neighbors were offered mains water. They didn't have to pay for it if they were pensioners, until their property was sold. Most of the town are pensioners so they voted for it. Having just bought the property I had no will to pay $4500 for a trench with a pipe past my place, another $300 for the water meter, $30 for a connection charge every quarter (even though I'm not connected) plus another levy on top to 'Save the river Murray', even though I wasn't using the river Murray water supply. Anyhow, I had no choice, I wasn't a pensioner.
Add insult to injury We have all the equipment to put in mains pipe. What they did for $4000.00 I could have done for $1000.00. On top of all that the town already had an emergency water supply that enterprising individuals had made 20 years ago.
Used to be such a nice friendly place. Now all the working population hate the pensioners for screwing their neighbors.
"Don't worry, it increases your property value".... LOL disconnect.
