ACLU - opinions
What are your opinions on the ACLU?
IMO, they stand for good but sometimes they take things to seriously or ignore certin things. Just yesterday they reffered to my neighboring counties's corrections officers as Nazis and compared them to the SS. Yeah, they cpmpared 900 people over the actions of 8 over an incident that occured several years ago (ill inmate was beaten when he asked for his medicine). "Nazi reference is 'deplorable' I am writing in response to "The great escape" [Editorial, April 17]. There was a quote from Barbara Bernstein, executive director of the New York Civil Liberties Union. She was quoted as saying "it was a concentration camp before," referring to the Nassau County Correctional Center. As a correction officer with the Nassau County Sheriffs Department, and a person of the Jewish faith, I find this comparison utterly deplorable. First and foremost, it is a direct insult to me, as well as the other officers employed at the correctional center to be put in the same light as an SS officer. The atrocities that occurred in the real concentration camps at the hands of the Nazi regime are in no way carried out in this institution. I believe Bernstein speaks from misinformation, and an immediate apology is due to the fine officers of the Nassau County Sheriff's Department. If you are a minority, then the ACLU will be more than happy to help you (depending on the issue of course). If you are white-bread American, don't even waste your time telling them how your civil rights were violated. They flat-out don't care.

What I dont understand is why they hate Christians so much, yet they campaign to protect the rights of Muslims. |
