    Shame on the BBC

Ok, now maybe I am the fool for expecting better from teh BBC, but saw this headline over on the BBC News website - and it is an attention getter.

    "US soldier 'waterboards' daughter"

however when you read the article you find:

"Sgt Joshua Tabor dunked the girl's head in a sink full of water for not reciting the alphabet, police in the town of Yelm said."

Serioulsy I am so f*cking pissed at teh BBC on this it is unreal.

Dunking the kids head, yeah thats bad, wrong, not to condoned or tolerated in any way. But it is not fecking "Waterboarding".

    Absolutely disgraceful journalism.

    Here is link:

BBC News - US soldier 'waterboards' daughter

What if this is an American muslim who dunked his daughter's head for not being able to recite the koran...or something?

If he is dealt with by 'Civilian' Court, is it allowable for the Military to punish him for a second time(double jepody)? In many countries the guarantee against being "twice put in jeopardy" is a Constitutional right.

Personally I'm a wee bit more upset about the psychological damage to the kiddie than the misuse of terminology. Probably just the hysterical, dogmatic leftist in me.

I am curious to know why you characterize BBC as hysterical propaganda machine. I found a fairly balanced coverage w.r.t news. I am not in US though.

It is balanced, but it's a pet hate of the right, probably due to the commitment to on the ground and humanitarian reporting, as well as the lack of traditional conservatives in it's governing bodies (they all want to be in the private media apprantly, I wonder why).

On the issue itself, in fairness it was probably some idiot charged with writing a snappy headline - still insensitive but I'd share BF's sentiments of being more worried about the girl than the name.
Although it is not true that all conservatives are stupid people, it is true that most stupid people are conservative.

The Beeb as a news organisation has a bias against the United States and a heavy bias against Israel. It came under heavy criticism for its reporting over the Hutton affair and according to its own staff could best be described as 'culturally liberal'.
As such it's pretty much the same as every other major news organisation, in that it has a cultural/political bias.
It certainly isn't balanced, but few if any are.

It's programme production is superb, though HBO looks to be overtaking it in both quality and quantity.

He was charged with assault and the girl is in CPS custody. He won't get off the hook.

In my country, it's sometimes attacked for being too conservative.

Makes great dramas, though- including Doctor Who.

I could post a bunch of things, but I'll leave it at one:

They treat Palestinian terrorists like heroes.

Okay, I lied, I'll post a couple more:

They are huge sufferers of Bush Derangement Syndrome.
    They are anti-American.
They are gigantic boosters of the Anthro Global Warming religion.
