Previously ,there were many professed farms that cultured dogs for restaurants. But after the government to forbid, those funs of meat dog maybe go underground.

Fortunately,nobody take dog as their ancestry or god. Anyhow, eat dogs wouldn't offend any believers of religionary.

Some friends of mine are their at the moment doing some of the technical direction for broadcast and are having a wonderful time except have expressed disappointment that things like dog aren't on the menu. They feels everything has been too westernised for them but understand that a lot of tourists need that.

I suppose they can just take the one hour drive out to Tianjin and see if there's dog meat there. Beautiful seaside town, with pastel-colored apartment blocks.

BEIJING: Thousands of pet cats in Beijing are being abandoned by their owners and sent to die in secretive government pounds as China mounts an aggressive drive to clean up the capital in preparation for the Olympic Games.

Hundreds of cats a day are being rounded and crammed into cages so small they cannot even turn around. Then they are trucked to what animal welfare groups describe as death camps on the edges of the city.

The cull comes in the wake of a government campaign warning of the diseases cats carry and ordering residents to help clear the streets of them.

Cat owners, terrified by the disease warning, are dumping their pets in the streets to be picked up by special collection teams.

Paranoia is so intense that six stray cats -including two pregnant females - were beaten to death with sticks by teachers at a Beijing kindergarten, who feared they might pass illnesses to the children.

China’s leaders are convinced that animals pose a serious urban health risk and may have contributed to the outbreak of SARS - a deadly respiratory virus - in 2003.

But the crackdown on cats is seen by animal campaigners as just one of a number of extreme measures being taken by communist leaders to ensure that its capital appears clean, green and welcoming during the Olympics.

Polluting factories in and around the city are being ordered to shut down or relocate during the Games to ease Beijing’s choking smog and drivers are allowed out on to the roads only three times a week.

yesterday,I take a party just for Olympic open. In my home,I asked my friends about this topic.

there are 10 persons in my home.

There are 60% never ate dog. among them ,as I konw, 2 fear to.

3 are middle-aged persons ,they said eat dogs were in difficult time 20,30years ago.

But there are 7 persons explicitly oppose to eat dog.Them think dog is so lovely,and dog is friend.

Of course,there are 2 like dogmeat,but seldom , They said would not give up to. To talk about their reasons, one said good test,one said good for his health. and 1 person have no ideal.

There are 3 pet dogs belong to all of them.

I don't eat dogs.

Yet, I am not a vegetarian.

For all what one may not know, dog's meat is possibly an epicurean delight and unless someone has tried it, one would not know.

But what interests me is why should any item of normal food be taken off just to please people coming from other lands?

Possibly China wants to be very hospitable and is doing everything to make the ''guests'' at home!!

The only sad thing that has sort of dampen the great hospitality of the Chinese people is the act of the unusual chap who killed a US citizen at the Tower and then jumped off and died!

One wonders why he did it, when China has gone all out to welcome its foreign friends.

China has really done wonders!
