Advice needed for my Swedish trip

I will be attending a wedding in early August in Malmo Sweden. Across the sea is Copenhagen, planning to spend some time there to.

I am interested to hear from any Swedish posters or any one else who has traveled there, what sights you would recommend I visit. I like history, good food, and to have a good time. Planning to buy some gifts also.

I also need from the Swedish, Australian and British posters advice for a bachelors party I will be throwing. There will be Swedish, Australian and British friends of my best friend there. Here are the questions I have:

1. Does Malmo have strip clubs? (Did not find any on the web)
2. I am looking to keep it mostly clean, for American standards. Is there anything that you would consider offensive or inappropriate? Planning to ask questions of some of my guests also.
3. In the US it is acceptable to ask the guests to contribute towards a portion of the bill for the entertainment of the bachelor. Is this the norm in Sweden, Britain and Australia?

Any honest and clean advice would be appreciated. Looking forward to your responses.

THANKS

Sweden is probably one of the most expensive Countries in Europe so take plenty of money. If it is a laid on Party then a "whip around" is the norm so start collecting the money now!!. Because the wife is sat very close, I can't remember if there are strip clubs there but its SWEDEN

I was about to say the same thing... Norway is the most expensive country in Europe... a Norwegian classmate of mine told me $20 for a mojito.

As for food, lefse, pile some lutefisk or lingonberry jam on it. And Swedish meatballs, of course. Never been to Scandinavia, but in Minnesota one can't help but have sampled much Scandinavian fare.

At the wedding they'll definitely have a smorgasbord so I'm sure you'll become very familiar with the most famous dishes.

As for Swedish members, you could shoot a PM to Nord.

1. Strip Clubs are not usually part of Bachelor Parties in Europe,a nd finding one in Sweden would be rahter hard. For one they are not that popular to begin with (why pay to see naked women, if the beaches are full of them), and prostitution is frowned upon in Sweden. I don't know if they includes stuff like Strip clubs, but I would not be surprissed.

Sweden is far mor liberal in such stuff (it makes even us look conserative), so abside from bringing prostitutes I can't think of a way to break a cultural taboo, but better ask someone from Sweden about this.

I don't knoiw by which mean you will travel, but if it is by anyway possible try to make a stop in Belgium, or Germany (Czech would be good too but that would be to far off the route) to fill up the alcohol supllies. Getting these in Scandinavia will cost you a fortune (and you should get better beer in those two countries anyway). But keep in mind that swedes don't drink that much compared to other Europeans (due its far higher prices) and therefore are not that...uh "Drinkfest" ..mh...battletested? sorry I don't the english word. They might have problems keeping up with Australians for example, so it may be better to keep it a bit down so they don't feel obligated to drink over their "capaticity" (Not sure if it is understandable what I mean here, sorry).

What might be a nice touch would be some mead. Its getting rather popular up there latly (and in Germany too)..uh well..again. I think they call it Mjöd. thought I can't gurantee that your friend enjoys it too.

As my experience in Sweden is limited everything above is without guarantee.

Tarek, thanks for all the info and advice. I might bring some liquor with me.

I am planning to keep it clean. I have done some searching on the web and it appears that strip clubs are not legal in Sweden. That explains why the search "Malmo Strip Clubs" was not brining anything up.

I might have to come up with something creative for the party. Any posters with more advice would be appreciated.

Ah I remembered one more thing, I've read someting about the custome to "kidnap" the bachelor and bring him to or whatever it is your had planned. Often he is forced to wear some kind of custome (which is somewhat related to whatever it is you are going to do)

A costume can be fun. I am sure I can find something embarrassing and funny.
