Free content isn't a radical new idea. Over the air TV and radio have been doing that for decades. We get free programming in exchange for some of our time to listen to sales pitch.
Recent Gillette example would be cell phone. Handsets are practically free (some are) while they get you hooked on talking, then texting ($0.10 per message), then email and web ($15/month), then a better phone to do these things faster ($150 - $500), then family plan (back to step 1 for each new line)...before you know it, you are stuck to the same provider for life because you keep taking that upgrade phone and renew your contract. ![]()
