No donuts? How about tea and biscuits?
I like my coffee extra strong and sugar. ![]()

![]() This is how my unit in Germany used to "make coffee." Every Monday morning, my S-3 NCO would just dump out the small amount of "fluid" remaining in our 30-cup "distiller"--read: "percolator." No washing required. Then he'd fill it back up with water, add grounds & brew. Tuesdays, he'd merely add enough water to fill it back up (not dumping out the coffee left over from the previous day), add some more grounds to the ones left from the day before & brew again. Lather, rinse, repeat until Friday, when the coffee poured out like weak (but totally black) maple syrup & left you wired for sound enough to cover the weekend. Oh, that was good stuff! & isn't it sad when some folks will gripe about $3.00 for a gallon of gas, but they make nary a whimper when they pay that same amount for only 6 - 9 ounces of certain Starbucks coffees?

The worst thing that I cannot break my wife of is the crazy idea that coffee cups are suppose to be washed. If I set a coffee cup down, she washes it. Can't get any "seasoning" that way. Like a good frying pan. |

LOL! Gun Grape, thanks for that reminder!
![]() P.S. I have successfully convinced my wife not to "mess with" our camping gear out in the shed in our yard--it's "my responsibility." So, guess where I go to retreive the old canteen cup that I use on those occassions that I want a "really good" cup o' "joe"? & no, I don't rinse it out--I store in upside-down on a shelf, & might bang it on the wall of the shed before carrying it into the house--just to knock the bugs out. Might be just the trick to get around your wife's "cleaning habits." ![]() I figure my Oma & Opa were correct, when they told me that I'll "eat a peck of dirt before I die" anyway. They've been correct about sooooo many other things in my life... |

Once upon a time, In a far away land, a FDC forgot to notify the "Hot" gun that the range had secured and they could turn in. Instead they got off the hooks and crawled into their bags at 0001 with narry a sound.
A certain young Corporal section chief (who shall remain nameless) on the "Hot" gun decided to tour the btry position around 0200. He runs into the Btry Gy (They never sleep) who wants to know why the Corporal is still up since 'We've been cold 2 hrs". Gunny hears story, gets mad at FDC, gonna go rip some. Young Cpl (ever the saint ) Tells Gunny "No big deal. Let it slide, Me and the FDC chief will work it out. No need for you to get involved."Then the Corporal goes to the FDC , whos' firewatch is either asleep or they don't have one, dumps the water from their "Ready to be brewed in the morning" coffee perculator and replaces that good potable water with local stream water. Lets just say "Things moved pretty fast in the FDC for a few days." ![]() Last edited by Gun Grape : 02-27-2008 at 22:11 PM. |
