Feet Up in Front of the Fire Tonight - America is Awesome
Well, tonight I've been watching some of the Ken Burns' "Civil War" series.
Quite sobering, yet a necessary slog if one is to understand America, and Americans. The last couple of hours I've been pausing that and flipping to a broadcast of "Apollo 13", that neat movie about a failed moon mission. Of course, the real story there is the success of getting three astronauts back to Earth safe and sound after their spacecraft suffered a crippling explosion. For some reason those two things seem to resonate with each other quite nicely. I can't put it into words right now, maybe tomorrow. But suffice it to say that right now I'm proud. -dale |
