Sounds like Ken Burns "The Civil War" drew inspiration from that. Same kind of style and incredibly powerful. Anyone who wants to learn about America should definitely watch it - it explains a fair amount about us.

The Christmas present that has afforded me the most pleasure was the CD set of the 1964 BBC series 'The Great War' in 26 episodes. It is in black and white throughout, using contemporary film and stills. The finest historians wrote the script which is read by the unseen narrator. Quotes from the famous are interspersed by extracts from letters, and most powerfully of all, short clips by those who were involved. It is superior to any history program that is being made today. Special effects and 'reconstructions' to say nothing of an egotistical announcer who is in vision far too much simply cannot compete with such a masterpiece.

There was a series shown on the British TV about the American Civil War, a fantastic series. Each episode was an hour long and had you on the edge of the seat the full hour. I think it ran for about 6 months or longer. It was the only time I ever marked the TV guide, as a reminder to all in the family that it was MY programme and was not to be missed. I wish I could find it in DVD form.

An HD DVD drive for my Xbox 360 and a book some of you might like "If Democrats Had Any Brains, They Would Be Republicans" by Ann Coulter (I was thinking of Dale and Bluesman).
Sometimes things dont end up how they should, a son, a brother, a mentor, a teacher, a cousin, a nephew, a grandson and a god in my eyes.
Who knows what he more could have been...
