Model-makers, can y'all come in here for a minute?

I want to modify my wife's Roomba Discovery robot vacuum cleaner by painting it up in the WWII German Panzer 'Ambush' paint scheme, and maybe mount an AA machine gun and a commander figure perched in his cupola. Anybody interested in any contract work for a really silly but fun project?

I'd do it for ya if I lived close by. I can give you a couple of easy ways to get the German camo done though, if you want.

A more important question is would your wife allow this lol? Them females dont appriciate my battle setups around the house from time to time or my attempts to make ships from toothpicks and popsicle sticks lol.

Tell ya the truth, dalem, I was actually posting that as bait, in the hope that you WOULD be my volunteer.

Seriously, I'd LOVE to make something as cool as her Roomba (alias 'Dusty') even more distinctive.

Another theme I though might be cool was a natural metal finish (like an old fighter-interceptor) and USAF markings and unit flashes. Maybe mount an empennage behind it (or on top and/or a canopy on top...

Any other ideas, lads? I mean, if we're going to void the warranty, lets do at least as well as the guy that mounted a wireless webcam on his.

I am just learning how to do natural metal finishes, so I am not your man there.

For German WWII camo, spray the thing base Panzer Yellow, use silly putty or scraps of low-tack masking tape to mask off the stripe pattern, then hit it with brown and green
in those steps, cut out a shitload of little masking tape triangles and place them over the yellow basecoat
pull them up when done and Voila!!

How about decorating it to look like a Cylon raider?

Two stripes and a couple of pentagons and you're done.

Boring.

Hey, how 'bout a pair of 'Enterprise'-style nacelles, and 'NCC1701' markings?

Or that 'Lost in Space' ship, the Jupiter 2.

Nah, that's boring, too.

Yeah but think of the fear it would envoke, knowing one day the little bugger will revolt and try and destroy its creators.

My wife and I were kidding about that: we'll go out in the garage, snap on the light, and there will be Dusty, poised with a screwdriver above his little round - and now armor-plated - chassis, tightening down my now 'slightly-modified' laser pointer, and looking at us with his unblinking infrared eye like the dust-producing organisms that frustrate his accomplishment of his mission goals that we are...

Hey, did you guys hear about the robot that can catch and consume flies as an energy source to keep itself running?

What the HELL were they thinking when they came up with this little nightmare? A CARNIVOROUS ROBOT?!?! Had NONE of these bright engineer types ever seen a late show before?
