But think about it, who can beat Washington right now? Not Florida, my money will say Washington takes it in a blow out. No one can stop Ovechkin. Heh, imagine Washington loses? I'll be OWNED... Aslong as Washington gets to O.T they're IN, and Carolina is OUT

Regardless of all that, GO OVECHKIN GO!!! We NEED him in the playoffs, its all about excitement, and he never fails to provide. Eh Exarecr?? How does an Ovechkin vs Iginla finals sound to you?
Amen dude. We have to get Washington in. I'm waiting to watch the game so I can finally get our hockey pool going once I nab Ovechkin. Calgary will be gone in the 1st round because of no scoring punch at all. Ducks and Sharks look good so it's a toss. I think Pitts can surprise as well as Washington if they get in. Ottawa has nothing going for them again so an early exit for them. Montreal could make some noise but pretty iffy. Im thinking Ducks Washington in the final if Washington makes it. If not Ducks vs Montreal.

Ha! The Kings have clinched the last place today. Hello most likely 1st pick over all!

I swear the Kings called up Cloutier so they can secure last place while making it look like they're still trying. He gave up goals on 3 consecutive shots!

Bad news for other playoff bound teams. Selanne is still fast and still able to score.

I went to the game today. Kings fans are much more rowdy than Ducks fans.

Sad to report this game was also Mick McGeough's last game in the NHL. He's retiring.

Still, a 1st round pick is reward enough for a terrible year. You get Stamois, a star in the making(hope I spelled his name right), while the Leafs who were equally terrible get to pick 6th or 7th. What was the price of a ticket in L.A. by the way. I know in Ottawa for a middle row seat your looking at around 95 dollars.

It's kind've ironic how MTL gave up Huet to Washington thinking that Washington wasn't going to make the post season, and now we have this big mix up! Is washington going to play kolzig or huet? We'll just have to see, but if huet steals the show, thats going to be hillarious. Sorry Price, I love ya and all, but Ovechkin is my main man now.

errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr error, even though washington has the fewest points they still won their division, so they're actually playing the Flyers. MTL will cruise past Boston, as usual, and flyers will just have to sit back and watch Ovechkin expose their D and score goals

I went ahead and bought Game 1 playoff tix for Carolina a couple weeks ago.

Now trying to figure out how to get my money back.

If everything goes to plan, the NHL will get the matchup they've been waiting for with Crosby and Ovechkin meeting in the second round.

With the Canes out, I guess I'll do what I did last year and cheer for the Canadian teams (if you wonder why, it's cause those cities would care and enjoy it more). So I'm cheering for Montreal, Ottawa, and Calgary.

heheheh Carolina's already had their parade, so it was only fair that Ovechkin gets his shot

I do have to say, Crosby is on a team with much more talent than Ovechkin's. Pittsburgh has two explosive lines, one with malkin and one with crosby. If Staal is not on the Malkin line then there are 3 VERY DANGEROUS lines. We all know how dangerous the younger staal can be: he led the league in SHG last season. About the last 12 games, it was a one man show in Washington. If you check the goals/assists, you will find that Ovechkin was behind most, if not all, of them.

Nosebleed seats are $25 each for Kings games. I think Ducks go for around $40.

Destined To Be?

Capitals' Ovechkin takes trophies as NHL leader in goals, points

Quote:
NEW YORK -- Washington Capitals left wing Alex Ovechkin has joined an elite group of players who, in the same season, have won the Art Ross Trophy for the National Hockey League scoring championship as well as the Maurice Richard Trophy for being the League’s top goal scorer, while Detroit Red Wings goaltenders Dominik Hasek and Chris Osgood have captured the 2007-08 William Jennings Trophy as the goaltenders for the club finishing the season having surrendered the fewest goals.

The awards will be presented at a media event to be conducted during the Stanley Cup Final.

Ovechkin won the Art Ross Trophy by finishing the season with 112 points (65 goals, 47 assists), six more than Evgeni Malkin of the Pittsburgh Penguins (47-59--106) and 14 more than Calgary Flames right wing Jarome Iginla (50-48--98).

Ovechkin’s League-leading goal total, an NHL record for left wings and the highest in the NHL since Mario Lemieux had 69 in 1995-96, made Ovechkin the first Russian-born player to win both trophies in the same season. Atlanta’s Ilya Kovalchuk finished second to Ovechkin with 52 goals, with Iginla third.

Ovechkin becomes only the sixth player in the past 37 years to lead the League in goals and points in the same season, joining a group that includes Phil Esposito (1970-71 through 1973-74), Guy Lafleur (1977-78), Wayne Gretzky (1981-82 through 1984-85, plus 1986-87), Mario Lemieux (1987-88, 1988-89) and Iginla (2001-02).
Osgood appeared in 43 games and Hasek in 41, with each surrendering 84 goals as the Red Wings finished with the most points in the League (115) and the fewest goals against (184).

You didn't pick malkin or forseberg? Well, niether would have I, but my cuzion said those two were his favourites. So you counted ottawa and Pittsburg out hehehe... Kovalev would've been a nice pick. Your Ovechkin and Getzlaf are the best choices

Hey man, I could only pick those the others didn't grab. Still have Gomez, Drury, Shanahan on the flip side.

Everyone is predicting the Senators to be crushed by the Penguins..

Personally I am rooting for the Canadians, but I seriously think that people are underestimating the Senators. I would not be surprised if the Senators beat the Penguins.

It all depends on whose goalies show up. Gerber has a problem of cracking under pressure. Emery has a temper problem. He'll fight his teammates if he's annoyed. I don't even know who's tending goal for the Pens.

All I know is, the team with the goalie usually wins. The last exception was 2003 Ducks. Giguere won the Conn Smythe trophy for the losing team.
