That surprises me as it has the highest crash-worthiness rating under the European system.

I saw one in Hong Kong last year.

We were both in Hong Kong last year!

    It's definitely small.

Agreed, but there is ample interior room for four 6 footers.

You'll have a hard time driving that here on our highways, fighting for road space with our Suburbans and Expeditions.

True. On my last US visit I drove a Dodge Ram. Driving through Seattle in the rush hour (in the torrential rain) being overtaken on both sides simultaneously by gigantic vehicles bearing several huge tree trunks was an un-nerving experience! Previously I had driven a Lincoln Continental which wallowed alarmingly and was not nearly as big inside as its exterior bulk would suggest.

Not quite. My gas guzzlers are quite small.

I used to have a Lexus IS300. It's the size of a Honda Civic but gets 18mpg in the city and 25mpg on the highway, if I'm lucky.

Harry Parka has one also. Perhaps he can better that consumption(!) Never driven one myself but they have a great reputation.

I now have a Subaru Impreza wagon, no turbo. It gets around 23mpg in the city and 28mpg on the highway. The all-wheel drive system if phenomenal. The car just sticks to the road. Of course I pay for it by getting crappy gas mileage for a little car.
The best road holding saloons I have ever had were Citroens. They gave the smoothest ride too. Never saw one in Canada or America in all my visits there though.
Semper in excretum. Solum profunda variat.

I've always liked diesel cars from a maintenance point of view. My favorite was a Nissan Sentra diesel. Having an extra large fuel tank and getting 40+ MPG it was by far the most economical car I've ever owned. A bit slow in the mountains with no turbo it did have lots of torque in the flat lands.

The Citroen suspension is truly remarkable, I love the way they handle.
The Lexus' fuel consumption I'm not too sure about as I've been hammering it.
It has a 'learning' gearbox and when I first got it I was disappointed by it's power, it changed up far too quickly. When I talked to the Toyota dealer (I bought it second hand) he said the previous owner probably drove it too easily and recommended I drive everywhere in second with the 'power' button off and the suspension eased back for a month or so. Having done that it now behaves very well and with the sports suspension engaged handles tight corners like a dream as well.

First car in US was 1996 Mazda 626 - 6 cylinder. Why I bought it? Couldn't afford anyother. Got really tired of it's unreliability then decided to buy a new one, this time Toyota RAV4, 4WD. Love the little SUV, that's when I get to drive it. Wife drives it and I am still stuck with Mazda .

My application buy a Sports Car is still pending with GHQ for last 2 years!!! Any suggestions as to how do I convince her that sinking 50K in to a small car is really good investment would be appreciated.

Oh, my first car was a Fiat Siena, Fern Green color. That was in India.

2004 Mazda 6 here. It has the 2.3l 4 cylinder engine and a 5 speed manual, so I can 'pretend' I'm driving a sports car when I'm driving it.

If you love the Grand prix you will love the new GTO! posi-trac(sp?)

The Aston Martin DB5? perhaps if you offered to wax it more often to earn the ride? I can only drive the wife's car when it needs gas...!
