    Butter Cookie Awards!

We, the staff at the World Affairs Board, have decided to award long-time contributors and referrers with tins of butter cookies.

We are instituting this program as a way to recognize the contributions of members without having some system where there are military ranks, stars, etc., like so many other forums do.

    The formula works as such:

5000 posts = 1 tin of butter cookies
5 referrals with 100 posts each = 1 tin of butter cookies

They will be Royal Dansk brand, 12 oz. or 1 lb. tin (depending on availability). The butter cookies will be mailed by a staff member to those who are eligible, both here in the US and to all international destinations via the United States Post Office.

For each additional 5000 posts or 5 referrals, an additional tin of butter cookies will be mailed.

Right now the following members are eligible for tins of butter cookies:

    Ray - 3
    M21Sniper - 3
    Officer of Engineers: 1
    Asim Aquil: 1
    Lemontree: 1
    Neo: 1
    Jay: 1
    Leader: 1

Members expected to soon reach the criteria for a butter cookie tin award:

    Shek - 1
    Dalem - 1
    Parihaka - 1
    THL - 1
    Bluesman - 1

If your name is on the higher list, you can provide me with your mailing address (home, PO Box, or APO), and I will see to it that you get the butter cookies you are eligible to be awarded with.

At some point in the future, we may decide to revise the criteria for butter cookie awards. If we revise them upwards, any members who have been awarded butter cookies will not be obliged to return them . If we revise them downward, additional tins of butter cookies will be awarded to members who would have been eligible under the new criteria.

We plan for this to be an ongoing program. The first batch of tins should be mailed sometime next week after the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, provided we have your mailing information. This mailing information will not be stored or shared with any other party.

Members are encouraged, if they wish, to post pictures of themselves posing with the tin of butter cookies, or enjoying butter cookies while viewing WAB.

Just to give your sponsors a little boost:

These biscuits are stacked, and the box I think (hey I ate em like years ago the last time) contains two layers. Some of them are sprinkled with sugar too. My favorite one\'s the rectangular nugget shaped one with sugar sprinkled on it.

Btw, you get these in America or is Chris sending them from UK? I gotta tell my brother about it, we used to fight over them so much. He always got them for himself and I kept sneaking a few out of his box every now and then. Dunno why I never ate these in so many years...

Right now the program is being staffed by Julie, Confed, TopHatter, and myself. I could talk to Chris about mailing from the UK, there may be better mailing services between the UK and destinations in Europe, the Middle East, and South Asia.

Waaaaay back in this thread, I commented on the very first butter cookies I ever got from a member of the WAB. One of the BEST members of the WAB; the formidable Confed.

Wow. Nice to look back on that.

lol this takes me back to the first time I came across the cult of the butter cookie, about two weeks after I joined WAB, when M21, Ray, Leader and so on had turned a military history thread of one form or another into a deep discussion about the military applications of butter cookies.
I seem to remember saying "wtf" without the abbreviations out loud.

    Ironduke and Chris,

That is a very welcomed Christmas gift which I never knew I would get just by following my hobby - interacting on WAB.

My wife is totally delighted since she thinks my 'madness' has finally worked out without striving for it!

Living off the Land and so I am some sort of a Commando now!

I want to send mine to the person who started it all. Without that good man, Bluesman, there would not be a Butter Cookies Award.

I want to be able to break open the second box when I get it and send one cookie each to every Indian and Pakistani who fought the WAB flame wars. Without those flamewars, the MSgt would not have gotten frustrated and came out with the Butter Cookie thread.

Lastly, which would be a while looking the way I'm going, I like the mods to share the 3rd box themselves. If anybody deserves a butter cookie, it is them for putting up with our crap this long.

    Asim,

I thank you and the Pakistanis for the Cookies.

But for you chaps, this would have never come to pass.

For once, the Indo Pak hostilities have worked out well for India and Pakistan!
