Congrats! I'd be willing to bet Hallmark makes a greeting card for this very occasion.

I'm sure they do. They have one for pretty much every other occasion.

I really like black suits with white pin stripes on men. Those are sharp.

That among highly polished shoes and a great tie make it complete. Oh and a great smile

And a matching bow tie (hand tied).

BTW why do Americans wear ties which are already fixed. In Engand, it is considdered as bad manners to wear a already tied tie or a bow.

For the same reason we drive through wedding chapels, lunches and pharmacies. The same reason we order food ahead of reaching a restaurant, buy movie tickets before we reach the theater and set the actual birthday for our children.

We are too busy, too tired and too impatient.

Most men I've met don't own evening wear, they rent it. It follows that most men don't know how to tie a bow tie. I learned originally from a diagram in the encyclopedia Britannica. I wore a suit and tie every day (except for Fridays) for many years. For me it was just another uniform.

My high school English teacher made an interesting observation. In America, he said, the clock runs. In Spanish-speaking countries, the clock walks (caminar). In France, the clock marches.

The meaning? American society is fast-paced, so it runs. Latin American societies are slower, so it walks. And when the saying was made up in France, Napoleon was at the height of his military success, so the clock marches. So it's merely a reflection on how the societies operate.

Have you guys ever noticed that we don't seem to have any French or Japanese on this board? I see lots of Americans, Indians, Pakistani, British, Chinese, Canadian, Austrailian, New Zealander, even Russian, Serbian, German, Greek and Turk, but no French and no Japanese.

Are they hiding?

Not me I learned long ago how to tie a (windsor knot) tie and a tight one to match (The old man knew his knots). Hell that goes back to catholic school. One you learn well you never forget. I also inherited an awesome tie collection from my father who would rather light himself on fire before EVER wearing a Clip on. Clip on ties are for those that either dont wear them often or those who cant tie one to save their lives. Either way a poor taste in the finishing touch.

Just be careful where you try this unless you like cleaning/painting. The persons mouth will fill rather quickly so be careful

I just watched The Last of the Mohicans for the first time. I didn't think it was THAT great of a movie.

Yeah, I felt the same way about "Annapolis" and "The Girl in the Basement", both of which I watched this weekend. Annapolis was not bad, but I did not think it was going to be one of those "triumph of the black sheep of the family" movies. As for the girl in the basement...the cover looks good, the acting is nothing short of horrendous, the idea is not so bad. Critic Emily gives it two thumbs down - even a relativelty nice looking main character and a bottle of rum could not save this one.

I wasn't feeling Pirates of the Carribean 2 either. It lost the charm and simplicity that made the first one great. It was trying too hard to be deep and thoughtful, but that's not what we want in a movie like that, especially considering the first one.
