LPG conversions often involve a higher compression ratio, which would probably mean using a special rotor in the engine - if that is not done - the power and fuel effeciency will be reduced. Lubrication and cooling are also issues with LPG conversions - which tend to run leaner than gasoline engines. I do beleive a rotary engine should work as well as a reciprocating conversion if done correctly, but it would probably reduce the peak power levels if no addiitonal compression or supercharging were used. Purpose bilt LPG engines typically have special components to deal with higher temps and lubrication issues. Of course there are many advantages to LPG as well.

At 92, a Bandit to Hollywood but a Hero to Soldiers | NY Times | Apr 26 2012
“Big Hy” — his handle among many loyal customers — would almost certainly be cast as Hollywood Enemy No. 1 but for a few details. He is actually Hyman Strachman, a 92-year-old, 5-foot-5 World War II veteran trying to stay busy after the death of his wife. And he has sent every one of his copied DVDs, almost 4,000 boxes of them to date, free to American soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.![]()
What's sad about this is that Mr. Strachman shouldn't have had to do this in the first place.
Those Hollywood idiots should have done this free of charge from the beginning.
