But do their pets get the 72?Friday, May 05, 2006 E-Mail this article to a friend Printer Friendly Version
WASHINGTON: Most Americans believe that when their pets die, they go to heaven, a survey has shown.
The telephone survey carried out by the Washington Post asked, “Do you think pets like cats and dogs can go to heaven when they die or do only people go to heaven?” Forty-three percent answered in the affirmative, while 28 percent replied in the negative. Twenty-two percent were not sure, while seven percent said they did not believe there is any such thing as heaven. The second question asked was, “Do you think people’s pets can go to heaven even if their owners do not?” This question was asked of those who do believe there is a heaven. A whopping 93 percent said yes, with only two percent dissenting. Five percent of those polled replied that they did not know. The survey was carried out last month. khalid hasan

Here's the funny thing though, according to Christianity, animals do not have souls. Thus animals can't go to heaven.A whopping 93 percent said yes, with only two percent dissenting. Five percent of those polled replied that they did not know. The survey was carried out last month.
A majority of the US population is Christian, yet only 2% of those surveyed said pets can't go to heaven.
If this survey is truely scientific, then we can conclude that some Americans are either lying to themselves or lying on the survey.
Unless my interpretation of soul and heaven is wrong...
I definetely believe that most animals/pets go to heaven...there's nothing more cuter or innocent than an animal.

I love cats, but I also respect them as wild animals.

In any case, being buddhist, animals are just part of the rebirth cycle.

The Washington post? Is this the same paper that tells people how much safer they are under the extreme gun laws they have in D.C.? Who did they call for the survey? The audience in the Jerry Springer show perhaps.
It was reported once that when a child was told that puppies or dogs don't go to Heaven, he said "I won't go either then because it would be too lonely".
Look he's taking the p1ss now.Originally Posted by Ray
