joining the us army?

I am engaged to an american girl and am thinking of joining the military to earn a living.i am 22 years old ,literate and in great shape so would the american army accept a 5 foot 10' non citizen immigrant in its fold?

ps:i am not scared of going to iraq and i am well versed in languages like hindi, urdu, nepali, little chinese, tibetan and tamil and so on.... and of course i love all things american barring chutiyas like cowboykiller.

Go see the recruiter. I'm sure they'll at least consider you. Non-citizens can serve, and it makes becoming a citizen MUCH easier.

We're glad to have you aboard bro.

As long as you are a green-card holder, you can serve. I believe after 3 years of active-duty, you can apply for citizenship and become a citizen much faster than civilians can. Good luck.

EDIT: And then of course, after you become a citizen..you can do many things like go to Ranger school, or even special forces in the army.

Citizen or not - we should be taking in anyone who wants to fight for and with us. In fact, agreeing, volunteering, to join the US military should be automatic citizenship. We can send one Anti-American American away and strip them of their citizenship for every non-American American that comes in.

Unless it's in glow in the dark green on your forehead, I doubt it.

My apologies, people. I was ranting. Got hit from both the left and the right of the political spectrum last night. Was at a bar after paying my respects to Sgt. Ernest Alvia “Smokey” Smith, was the last surviving VC winner.

Was swapping war stories with my RSM and wonder if we were up to par with Smokey's generation. Long story short. Alcohol induced aguements from the left that the Canadian military is nothing but a bunch of butchers wannabes and from the right that we're bunch of boyscouts who don't deserve the title soldier.

My apologies if I offended (or confused) anyone. Got to reduce the scotch intake. I'm not that young anymore.

No apologies needed nor requested Colonel. You've earned the occasional blast of hellfire

Speaking of scotch, if you are able to secure permission for leave down in Naples FL (your golf outing) from CINC-HOUSE, I have a bottle of 10-year scotch (direct from Scotland, natch) that we can do some damage to.
