Homage to all victims of 26/11 Mumbai

Dear Members,

Today is 26/11 exactly 1 year ago, Mumbai suffered a Terrorist attack leading to Death of hundreds of civilians, both Indian as well as foreigners and while countering the attack many police officials and NSG commandos laid their lives. As a mark of respect to each one of them, let us all come together to pay homage to them.

Would request you to post with your own personal opinion on how to avert any future militant attack on another soft centre, here or elsewhere.

Heck it seems like yesterday ,, RIP .

To answer your Q Mjr , i think its the biggest challenge ever , and virtually impossible to battle , better security ,(intel ) the worlds security services i believe do work together, but with security like this below , im in doubt, this is not just a dig at the Yanks as the Brits are as bad allowing strangers to walk around the Queens bedroom .
.

The Secret Service is investigating how an uninvited couple was admitted to U.S. President Barack Obama's White House state dinner, penetrating layers of security, a spokesman said on Wednesday.

The agency charged with protecting the president and other high-level officials is conducting a comprehensive review of the security breach on Tuesday at the dinner in honour of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, U.S. Secret Service spokesman Edwin Donovan said.

The Washington Post first reported that a northern Virginia couple, Tareq and Michaele Salahi, not on the official guest list, crashed the White House party but were never seated at a table in the South Lawn tent where the dinner was held.

The White House has asked the Secret Service for a full review of what happened, an official said.

"An initial finding has identified one of our checkpoints that did not follow proper procedures to ensure that the two individuals that were named in the Washington Post story were on the invited guests list," Donovan said. But he said no was at the dinner was ever in danger.

"I want to stress that these individuals went through magnetometers and several other levels of screenings just as all of the guests attending the dinner did," he said.

"We don't rely on just magnetometers or the level of screenings," he added." That's why we have the agents with our protectees at all times."

The couple, described by The Washington Post as aspiring reality-TV stars and polo-playing socialites, were seen arriving at the White House.

According to the Post, the uninvited guests were in the same room as the Obamas and Prime Minister Singh, but it is not known if they met.

A dozen pictures posted on Facebook appear to show the couple posing with dinner guests including Vice President Joe Biden, Washington Mayor Adrian Fenty, CBS News anchor Katie Couric, and White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel

Remembrances

An evil day and one that merits eternal remembrance.

There are dark forces loose in this world. Men and women of good will and stout heart must hold these memories close if certainly not cherished. Pray for us that we shall always remember why we hurt and why we fight for something better.

In the morning when I turn on the BBC, I dread to listen to the news. Its almost like I have a bad premonition that something or the other might have happened in some corner of the world. This struggle will go on into at least the next generation. I hope for the sake of the future of our children we win. Also how can we thank enough the people who work round the clock and put their own lives on the line in faraway places, and yet go unsung, just to ensure our children are safe?

They are in our thoughts...the victims were mentioned at Mass this morning for our rememberance.

How do we prevent it from happening again?

We keep up our pressure on Pakistan and India ramps up it's anti-terror forces.

But you can not stop everything...so prepare the population for a long fight...but then the Indian Nation has always been a tough people.

May all the innocent people never be forgotten and the guilty eradicated. Their names should never mentioned in the same breath of decent people.

RIP.. may we never forget the evil that took place on that day.. to remind us the ideals we fight for..

As for how to prevent such attacks, DCL sir, I cannot say, but I do know that all the ones we know who planned and carried out these attacks should be killed! Even if the Pakistanis wont do it through their facade judicial system, then the onus falls on India to make sure that those shaytans not live another day to plan and kill any more innocent people.
