More Pressure To Go By September
Weisman and Ricks are reporting today in the WAPO that September will mark a clear decision-point on Iraq, if not earlier. House democrats are pushing to bring the decision to July by compelling the President to report on benchmarks then in order to obtain funding authorization for over half the fourth quarter budget for Iraq (through September).
Does anybody think that there aren't significant timelines attached to these benchmarks which signal to our opposition when to conduct attacks designed to skew perspectives at critical legislative moments, both here and in Baghdad? Consider that OUR legislation is closely tied to the Iraqi parliament's performance with key de-baathification and oil legislation this summer. Key votes both here and there are vulnerable to a variety of attacks. We seem comfortable letting the enemy know when to do so. Hmmm... September Could Be Key Deadline in War - washingtonpost.com

Do these people have a clue? Can you imagine Roosovelt reporting to Congress when operations were going to be happening?
