The Hague, William? The same crew that made a total joke out of Slobo's trial, so badly, even, that Slobo ran a successful election campaign from prison. It made him MORE popular! It was a travesty from start to finish, and when Iraq can't take too many more blows, you'd have Saddam's trial conducted in EUROPE, by WHITEY, instead of by the people that were actually victimised by this criminal?
You judgement is bad, champ, but even you No, wait. I'm sure you really CAN'T grasp why that was exactly the wrong way to go. |

If taking him out of the theater was such a grand idea, we really screwed up by not totally blowing the mask off of Iraqi sovreignty, huh? Maybe we should just call the whole place 'AmeriMcWalmartistan', like the lefties say it is, and just come right out and admit we're pulling the strings.
THAT will make an Iraqi want to lay down his life for Halliburton, huh? |

Letting Saddam escape his fate through a neglectful, desultory we-don't-really-mean-it crawling forward along a path to a just end that we hope we never reach is cynical in the extreme. That judgement was rendered, the sentence was passed, and a positive act of carrying it out was absolutely essential. Otherwise, there IS NO JUSTICE.

Perhaps you believe that waiting for the hajj and Eid would be better, but I sure as hell don't. For one thing, these religious zealots that may attach themselves to his cause have a tendency to get 're-blued' every time they go to the Big Ole Revival in the desert. They come out of there ON FIRE for Allah, and with the Arab Street in 'Maximum Seethe' mode, I bet even the Iraqis, who've shown a helluva lot of guts lately, may go shaky, and call off the execution. THEN who would be seen as having the upper hand, the cultural confidence to lead?
Next thing you know, Saddam would be asked his opinion on Iraqi Cabinet appointments. Nope - go according to the strict letter of the law: the sentence MUST be carried out within 30 days by Iraqi statute, and with a holiday coming up that we don't want the old bastard to mess up or cut into with his death...go NOW. |
