US Troops Battle Heat in Iraq

With summer now in full swing, the temperatures regularly reach 125 F during the day but at least it's a dry heat. I've endured 100 degree days with 90%+ humidity before, but that still has to suck.

I'm not in Iraq, I proably will be in less than a year though, I just thought this article on the heat was interesting.

Here in Detroit, it was recently 106 degrees with heat index. Something like 95ish degrees, with 80+% humidity. I come from Texas, where I once went on a longish walk in 112 degrees. On this walk in Detroit, I got lost in Dearborn, and ended up walking about 10 miles (half of which was on the side of a smelly highway ), and it was HORRIBLE. By the end of it, I felt like collapsing. I never knew how bad it was to be in humidity. Humidity totally changes everything.

It didn't help to have not had anything to drink that day. Heh

Oh yeah, I got ambushed by 15 black males later that day. Easily the weirdest day of the last several years.
