This is not sad. It was expected. CDF and WAB was expected to surpassed me ... and both have.

I will read you to keep learning stuff ... but my teaching days are now over.

In all my life I've never heard such a load of nonsense. (I was going to say bollox but I have too much respect for the WAB Colonel)... Obsolete!!! Where the hell did that come from? Under NO circumstances desert your post until properly relieved by permission of WABbits, and that Order will be long in coming.

    LCol Yu,

I can't say I agree with your reasoning, judgment, facts or opinion in this matter, but I respect anyone who feels he cannot continue to perform to his own expectations, and therefore retires at the top of his game.

    Peace.

You sound like my Grandfather did at 75.

He's now 95 and still got more brains than the rest of the family put together.

Still sought after for advice on a regular basis.

Pretty much like you really I suppose.

Just wish, that is another example of his strategical thinking, you'd need years to do that.

    col yu,

    observer said it best:

Sir, its been an honour learning from you for over a decade now. From the days at CMF/TMF which then moved to CDF and Taiwanmilitary.org and then finally to WAB. WAB has changed in many ways since I first came here but you have always been a steady rock in a sea of change.
followed you around for the last 10 years-- learned a hell of a lot.

by now, whether you like it or not, WAB is your home: you'll always be welcome here, complete with a comfy chair in the corner, fine cigars, and a single malt.
The human mind cannot grasp the causes of phenomena in the aggregate. But the need to find these causes is inherent in man’s soul. And the human intellect, without investigating the multiplicity and complexity of the conditions of phenomena, any one of which taken separately may seem to be the cause, snatches at the first, the most intelligible approximation to a cause, and says: “This is the cause!"

    Sir

I learned long ago that decisions are made that you may not like but cannot change. This is one of them.

I thank you for sharing your knowledge and wisdom with us. You have been one of the bedrocks of the WAB for the years I have been on the board, and one of the reasons I hang around. You will be missed.

Hopefully you will drop in every once in a while to keep us straight.

I wish you Fair Winds and Following Seas.

    Sir,
It is truly a sad time. I don't believe for a second that you have nothing more to offer.
Experience and wisdom are two things that can not be given to someone, they are learnt as you travel on life's journey and passed on to others as they travel on theirs.

Sir, I wish you well and know that if and when you decide to return to WAB, you will be welcome with open arms.

We miss you Sir, the WAB needs you - but I understand and wish you well in your other pursuits - all the best
