Upgraded version would be 50 likes and ban an Admin?

    Yeah.

It doesn't even have to have the mods/admins name on the button. It'll be russian roulette style. Click the button and a mod is randomly banned for a day.

Umm...failing that, I'd settle for a big banner and an update to the emoticons......

    I. Hate. Portals.

They're so 90's internet. I come here for the forum and would skip straight past a portal.

Unless that portal has awesome features that go way beyond "recent posts", "calendar" and "handy links"

google search is a good idea.

I kinda like the look of the place as it is. But yeh, I never liked change.

I like the 2008 WAB. It was easy, looked good, and i could find stuff. i belong to another forum that uses vBadvanced and it isn't all that super. I also belong to another that uses a portal and kinda sucks. My internet isn't fast and the last thing i want is another page to load.

A CMS solution is easy and the onboard seach is simple to integrate in most systems, however it will still return the searchs that are within their; (Google) databanks.
The other obvious problem is you would have to already be a member here to benefit and it would do nothing for those like me who stumble in to the search trojan horse.
If I hadn't been sent a good link then I wouldn't be here now and this site would be host blocked as a bad place to be.

I've yet to explore all of your site and your hosts are obviously kind and undertanding but perhaps a little slow when it comes to listening to the people doing the work?

If you have as you should (as admin) ftp to the domain ( which apparently you don't) then you can easily integrate Google tools and by asking them via those to remove listings get rid of the spurious link problems in about four weeks.

If you don't have then perhaps we should all wonder why & why, or not be suprised about anything.

I'd be willing to donate you a server with whichever CMS you like set up as you like. However I think the domain name might pose a problem and transfer of the existing material without ftp or access to the sql might involve an awful lot of copy and paste.

I won't give real money to people who don't look after their admins though. :smile:P

(There are other search engines available)

    Wabbit:

I'll let Tarek, our admin respond in full.

This much I can say. We are aware of the need for ftp to implement certain changes. Our admins are trying to get access to it from the owners of the site, who operate a zillion servers. Your generous offer of a server unfortunately will not help us under the circumstances.

I am one of the proponents of CSM because of its ability to define the site and share sundry news without thread creation. I assume one can opt to bypass it on logging in, but I am not sure.

Thanks for your suggestions and thoughts. Keep them coming.

Here's a good example of a lead-in page and what can be done to communicate to members without starting threads. Note how easy it is to move on to new posts (click on forums)...
