Cool, like half the board I'm enamoured with Kaiser Putin, but I didn't realise it's as broad as that.
EDIT: I've set up one for European WABers, anyone interested come on in!
I've spruced up the social group settings a little bit. Currently there are two categories of social groups, By Locale and Common Interest.
There's now a link placed in the navbar (red line with links below the PM box) that links directly to the Social Groups page. From here, members can join and create groups.
There are three different types of membership options:
- Invite - to join, a member must be invited by a group administrator/creator
- Moderated - membership request must be approved by group administrator
- Public - anybody can join
Currently, there are five social groups:
- The Beltway Boys - for DC area residents
- Пу́тин (Putin) Lovers on WAB - satirical Putin fan group
- Turks of WAB - self-explanatory
- Discworld - for fans of Discworld fantasy/sci-fi novels
- Historians - for historians / history buffs
Members are encouraged to create away and carve out their own little corners. For example, groups based on common interests such as modeling, sports, political affiliation, nationality, military (whether unit, branch, nation, etc.) and so on and so forth are things that come to mind when thinking of groups that could be created.
The Forum Guidelines generally apply to any and all groups, but they can also be relaxed. Group creators and administrators can also devise their own additional guidelines as well.

Although it is not true that all conservatives are stupid people, it is true that most stupid people are conservative.

I've added one for WAB Socialists. Members welcome.
There's one Iv started about the Indian Armed Forces. InArF supporters or people interested in military matters related to the Republic of India are most welcome to join in.
VD monastery needs no advertising of course since it already has close to half a cent members :P More than all the other groups combined.
It would be nice if an option can possibly be provided for ordinary members other than the group owner to invite interested people to their group.

Now that was a group I would have looked forward to joining if for nothing more that to tweak The Bluesman’s nose. But now that he’s banished what’s the point. :(
I say bring back that old cold war curmudgeon.)
Buy the ticket, take the ride.
We had a little bit of a flurry in social group creation, but not past the first day. Don't all you tankies want to carve out your own little corner? Dale and the rest of the modelers? Reps, Dems, libertarians? How about one for the ladies of the forum? Somewhere to get away from those pesky men from time to time?
For you Canadians, I was born about 45 miles south of the border and am originally Anglo/Cornish-Canadian on my paternal side. I've even been confused for a Canadian. There are 504 people with my surname in Canada (all related somehow) compared to 809 in the US (per capita 9x the number). I say "eh?" all the time. I've eaten bear. Do I qualify, perhaps, as an "honorary Canadian"?)
