CTC Sentinel August 2011 Issue

I've not kept up with the CTC Sentinel yet it remains a relevant and valuable insight to both worldwide terrorism and notable counter terror activity. Perhaps I'll do better henceforth.

The August issue focuses on activity in the Arabian peninsula, the Magreb, Europe and the revival of shi'a extremism within Iraq. As always the content is lucid and timely.

AQAP is obviously looking for openings. It will be interesting to see how such an intolerant, violent and anachronistic ideology mixes with a revolution that largely seems to be seeking democratic reforms. In the end, I think, it won't be the US that destroys Al Qaeda, but the Muslim world. What other choice do they have? To embrace AQ is to condemn your culture to de-evolution and extinction. The only way for Islam to survive in a civilized world is to reject antiquated dogma and embrace reform.
