Well essentially an interview or a first hand account of a person directly involved on the topic at hand. That was his definition of "primary source."

You need to define what exactly that means and what type of source fits your needs.

If you are looking at first hand battle accounts to find out soldier opinions, etc, your local Books-A-Million Military History section is repleate with a ton of first person combat bios.
